Why YOU Need to Produce More Content

Ryan Shank shows how regular video content brought in customers who felt familiar with his brand before reaching out. Two prospects found him through videos, another through a Medium post by a teammate. Consistent publishing signals reliability and compounds into trust and revenue.

Wagoners, wagoners. All right guys, so wanted to kind of talk you guys through something about the vlog, about content, about what's happening. It was actually really cool. I actually did two demos today with two different customers who had found us through video. They actually discovered us through them. Second one, he actually just signed up for a demo request. He requested a demo and he said he's using, I guess, one of our competitors. I never heard of them before, but he said he's using them right now. And he's like, you guys keep targeting me on Facebook with some ads. And he's like, and it looks like a pretty slick product. So I figured I'd check it out. He was like, I'm using, you know, Five Numbers right now. I'd probably be in the starter The thing that happens is when you start to put out content, and especially video content, they feel like they know you and they feel like they can actually trust your brand, right? You're not just this like random thing that like either you reached out to them or they found your tool online where they don't really trust it. Content, especially like video content, and especially when you're like becoming a human and creating that brand, it's like they go and they learn to trust that. They're like, I follow your every move every single day on the internet, so it's like I know that you guys are gonna be there and that you're not just gonna like rip me off, right? Because you have this like huge huge presence online. Not like huge and influential or anything like that, but it's just like you're putting out consistent content so it's like they know and they go to learn and trust that particular brand. The other thing that it does is it establishes credibility because it's like, especially if you're doing interesting things and you're actually going about things and you're growing your business and then you're putting that on a platform for people to watch. So that happened with the other one. The other guy, he was like, "Look, I follow the videos." He's like, "That's admirable for one that you guys are doing that." Oh, I actually have another example, by the way. He's like, I've been following it. He's like, I love it, love that you guys are doing that. You put yourselves out there and that you're just going out and getting it. And it's like they want to get behind that and they want to be a part of that. So he was like, he was like thinking, he was like strategizing and helping think through. He's like, I think, he's like, have you thought about going after, um, direct mail companies and like postcard companies and things like that? And I was like, yeah, I actually thought about that recently. He's like, I'm gonna make an intro for you. So not only is he gonna become a customer because he's not even using call tracking, so one, we're We got in front of him with the videos. We're now educating the market because he's doing like advertising and PPC, but he wasn't using call tracking. So we're educating the market and then we're getting him involved in the story and he's becoming part of it because he now feels like, you know, he's then jumped on a video call with me, we're chatting, I'm in one of the videos and stuff, so he feels now a connection, now he can be a part of it and he can add value. So it's like there's just like awesome stuff that happens when you start to just create content and put out videos on a consistent basis and like get in front of these guys. And by the way, even if it's not like amazing content, all the time. The fact that it's like you can just point to and be like, yeah, we do that all the time, 7 days a week. The consistency is there, and I think people can like respect that. So then the third use case, by the way— so there's those two people who actually signed up that are going to be paying customers. Then the third one was that we were getting live chat, uh, while that was all happening. And someone else discovered us through a Medium blog post that we did— actually, that Michael did, uh, thanks Mike, uh, through this Medium blog post. And they discovered us through that, and then they came to the site and they were like like kind of impressed or whatever. They were like, "Oh, you guys are, you know, just putting yourselves out there. That's really hard to do. You know, not a lot of people can or are willing to like, you know, just do that." And it's like, you gotta just swallow your pride sometimes, I think. Not that I'm fine, but, um, but you know, not a lot of people are doing that for whatever reasons. And, uh, so, so they, they were like really— it's like you don't want to like get your ego stroked. Not too much, but it was like kinda cool. But, but it was kinda cool. So like all that was happening. And I was on a demo with it. And then by the way, the other thing that was happening is, so like I was on the demo with the guy who saw the videos. The guy's chatting in through live chat. So that's on my phone and then it's on the thing. And then we get a paying customer that just auto-converts. So then my phone goes off and then like all we get, all of our new customers, I get notifications on my phone from Stripe. All these apps where it just throws it up there. So it's like, then a paying customer happened. From some guy that I was talking to back in June that I'm like friends with, I guess, now on Skype. So all these things were like happening at the same time. That's where, you know, the light bulb starts to go off. It's like, look, this thing is like working, you know. It's like we're relatively early and we're getting this much positive feedback. And I'm not gonna say like success with it, but it's just, it's working in its earliest stages. So you can only imagine what's gonna happen once everything starts to compound, once we get the snowball of like real champion paying customers that are just like wanting to spread this out. So this is a really long-winded video right now. Hopefully we're gonna chop it up and make it cool. But yeah, there was just some like pretty good indications of wins that are coming from content today. And so the point is like just to put out stuff, document, and then just like share it with other people that could potentially get value out of it. And then they're either gonna get value, they're gonna tell you you suck, but either way you're engaging them. And then you're like kind of creating this like small community that will hopefully grow into a large community.
