Hi, I'm Ryan Dohrn, president and founder of BrainSwell Media. Today we're going to talk a little bit about landing pages and the difference between a quality landing page, a gateway page, and sometimes just bogus pages that people try to use to draw in website traffic. A well-constructed landing page allows users on the internet searching for a particular term, if it matches with your website, it's going to bring them over to your website and it's going to place them on a landing page that's unique A landing page that contains the valuable data they're searching for and also a clear path for them to follow for more information. There's a big difference between a landing page and a gateway page. In my opinion, a gateway page is a page designed to do nothing but draw in search traffic, even if those pages have absolutely nothing to do with your website. Also, a lot of times legitimate business owners will use a gateway page to do the exact same thing. I believe you can change a gateway page over to a unique business landing page that's legitimate and justified very, very easily. And the algorithm for it is quite simple. Give people what they're searching for. So let's just say that you're a website all about popcorn and you're able to put out on the internet that you're able to optimize for keywords like caramel popcorn, cheese popcorn, or great popcorn as a gift. You create landing pages for those terms. You provide relevant, valuable company information on those pages, ordering options, sizes, combinations, customer support links. Those are legitimate landing pages. Rather than send somebody to the main page of your website, it takes them to a page that contains unique content about exactly what it is that they're searching for. I think— I really believe that Google likes these things. I think that Google rewards you for being specific. And we've heard time and time again from people at Google and from other search engine sites that what they really want you to serve is a quality, clean, relevant website. I think there's a difference between landing pages and gateway pages. I think you can take the general concept, make it your own, and I think you might just have some great SEO success.
