Ryan Dohrn shows how to insert images into Joomla 1.5 articles using the Media Manager. Place images below the Read More line so they don't show on the front page. Use Apply every few minutes to save your work as you go.
Hi everybody, welcome to your next bit of Joomla training. I'm Ryan Dohrn and happy to be sharing with you today. Today we're gonna talk about adding images to your article. In our last session, we talked about cutting and pasting or typing here in this main box in order to add your text. Let's just say that we want to add a photograph right here at the beginning of the second paragraph. This is so easy, guys. All you're gonna do is scroll down the page and you'll see a little button here that says Image. Simply click on it. And that's gonna pull up all the images that you have uploaded using your media manager. We'll show you how to use that in the next session. So simply click on the folder where you've stored those pictures, and here's a lovely piece of fruit, a cherry that we're going to insert. See the Insert button right here, guys? Simply click on Insert, and there you go. It's gonna automatically add that to your article. Now, if you want to go ahead and change anything about that picture, you can simply click Delete highlight it and click Delete, no problem. Go down here and click Image again, and you would choose the folder your image is in, and we'll choose Pears this time and click Insert. Now, one thing to notice, guys, is because this red line is here, that's the Read More line, okay? Because that line is here, what we need to do is make sure that the image is below that line. If the image is above the line, for example, if it's up here at the beginning of the paragraph, then that image is going to appear on the front page if you decide to publish this article to the front page. So guys, adding an image is quite simply as simple as that. Upload your images with the media manager, click where you want that image to appear in the story, click on the image button, choose the folder the image is in, choose the image, and then click Insert right here. Okay, now one of the other things that you can do, you may want to change the alignment of the photograph in terms of its, its representation next to the text here. Simply click on the image and go up here to this little tree. See the little tree, guys, right here? See the little tree? Simply click on that little tree, and that's gonna pop open a window that's gonna allow you to edit that image. You'll notice right here there's a little tab that says Appearance. Simply click on it. Then you can choose the alignment. For example, if we want the text to be at the top, you see the preview here of what it's going to look like. Say we want the text to align left, which is going to align the picture here and all the text here. Then you simply click update and it's going to automatically adjust that text within your article. You can see, guys, Joomla is straightforward and easy to use. Don't forget, if you're doing a lot of work, make sure you click apply every 3 or 4 minutes so you don't lose your work. Or in case you lose your internet connection, and then you click Save to save it to the database. In our next class, we're gonna talk about how to use the Media Manager.
