Hi, I'm Ryan Dohrn, founder and president of BrainSwell Media. Today I want to talk about one of the most fundamental components of any successful SEO campaign, and that is search volume. See, all too often we as business owners are plagued with our own worst problem, and that is assumptions. Assumptions can often be wrong, and when it comes to search engine optimization, we have found that most of the time business owners unfortunately are wrong. Let me explain. If you happen to be a business owner that sells shoes, you probably assume that everybody on the internet is searching for, example, Nike shoes or Nike running shoes. It may surprise you that people are searching for, example, for Nike soft-soled running shoes. So you might optimize your website for the wrong terms. Conversely, a lot of times people try to use high search volume terms to draw in traffic to their website, and that's absolutely wrong. For example, we know of business owners that have used terms like saline implants, which is a very, very popular search term on the internet, to draw in traffic to their website. Google will find you out, and this is a black hat trick. That definitely in the long run may, maybe might get you blacklisted by Google. If you're blacklisted, you're out. If you're not found on Google, you're out and your business will suffer. I'm Ryan Dohrn, president and founder of BrainSwirl Media. We'll see you next time as we talk more about search engine optimization.
