In this brief weekly sales coaching video, Ryan Dohrn emphasizes personal responsibility, stating that while external factors can influence you, you ultimately control yourself. He argues that big goals often fail because people don’t set intermediate, actionable mini‑goals, turning aspirations into “pipe dreams.” To illustrate, he contrasts a weight‑loss goal with a sales target, proposing a three‑step mini‑goal framework: (1) block out dedicated prospecting time, (2) make persistent outreach calls and voicemails, and (3) streamline proposal processes. He encourages listeners to translate any large objective into three concrete actions, reinforcing that success requires proactive effort rather than waiting for others. The video ends with a personal note about his travel, vaccination status, and an invitation to contact him via ryandohrn.com for speaking or training engagements.

Hey friends, Ryan Dohrn here, your global sales coach. I hope you're having a great week out there in sales land. Here comes your sales tip of the week. Ultimately, you control you. Now, others may influence you, circumstances may influence you, but ultimately you control you. And one of the biggest things that you can control are your goals. But here's what I like to say to folks: a goal without many goals I call that a pipe dream. Now, were you aware that most people by the end of, like, say January 28th, most people will have lost? They will have failed on their New Year's resolutions. Why is that? It's probably because they didn't set little goals to get to the big goal. So I always try to have 3 mini goals to get to that big goal. So for example, you might say, I need to lose 20 pounds. Okay, well, so do I. But what are the 3 things you're gonna do to get to that? Because just saying it, maybe even writing it down, is is not quite enough. What are the little things that you're going to do to get to that? So if you're going to exceed your sales goal this year, okay, maybe number one thing you're going to do is block out time for prospecting. Okay, good. Number 2, what you're probably going to do— pick up the phone even if people aren't there, leave voicemails, encourage them to email you back. And then the third thing you're going to do is really work hard on, on being streamlined in your proposals. Those are just 3 examples. So rather than just saying, I'm going to crush it in sales, what are the things you're going to do to crush it in sales? Just always be thinking like you control you. If you wait for others to set your goals, you're going to be waiting a very, very long time. Friends, don't ever forget, if sales was easy, everybody'd be doing it, and they're not. We're not crazy. This is a career, a great career that'll feed your family for a lifetime. Hey, I'm out on the road, back on the road, double vaccinated, already had the real COVID. I'm ready to get to your office, to your sales meeting, to your conferences out there in Vegas. Click, wink wink. Wherever you're having it at, reach out to me over there at ryandohrn.com. All right, friends, we'll see you next week.
