Ryan Dohrn uses the Pomodoro Technique, 25 minutes of focused work followed by 5-minute breaks, to stay productive in sales. He puts a visible timer in his line of sight to trigger hyper-focus and fight his scatter-brained habits. The method is one of 16 time-management strategies in his book Selling Forward.

What's going on, friends and fans? Ryan Dohrn here, your friendly neighborhood sales coach, and this is your sales training tip of the week. All right, we talk a lot about time management. What am I really doing every single day is I'm using the Pomodoro Technique of getting things done. All right, what is that? Pretty straightforward. 25 minutes on a task and then you take 5 minutes off. 25 minutes on a task, take 5 minutes off. You do that 4 cycles and then you take a 30-minute break. But wait, there's more. I also then will take my phone, set that 25-minute timer on my phone, and then I set that clock within eyesight of what it is that I'm doing. What happens is my brain hyperfocuses, goes, oh my gosh, Ryan, you only have 25 minutes to get this done and then you get a break. My brain hyperfocuses on the project. I work in focus for 25 minutes and then I take a 5-minute break. Friends, you know, it's critical in the sales business. It's all about time management. You gotta be able to manage your day.
