Hey friends, Ryan Dohrn here, your sales and marketing coach, answering your listener questions. Keep them coming. I love these questions coming in. ryan@ryandohrn.com. All right, we've got Desiree from Toronto. Desiree asked this question. Hey Ryan, we are in full lockdown mode still here in Canada. I'm good at face-to-face but not good on the phone. I am not good on Zoom. What am I missing? What should I be doing? What am I doing wrong? Well, Desiree, here's the thing. If you're good on the phone, you probably will be okay with Zoom as well. It's just a little bit about practice. The other thing is check out my video online. That's How Not to Be a Webcam Zombie. Go over to YouTube and search for that, How Not to Be a Webcam Zombie. I think that will help. Normally it's just lack of practice. You need to get a lot more comfortable with your camera. Maybe you need to clean up the background behind you. Maybe you need a better mic. Maybe you just don't feel comfortable being on camera. A lot of that is just practicing, recording yourself, playing it back, going online, getting some advice, getting some coaching. But the interesting thing about Zoom, even if someone— or GoToMeeting— even if somebody doesn't share their webcam, pretend that they're there. Sometimes I'll put up their LinkedIn profile if they're not sharing their webcam so I can actually look and see a picture of them. Sometimes I find that to be helpful. But the biggest thing is just getting good at it. So maybe do a practice call with your spouse or your partner. You know, be careful about doing it with, with a friend or family member that doesn't know what you're doing. But maybe you could ask a son, a daughter, maybe a good friend would be a good one to practice with, or fire up a GoToMeeting or a Zoom with nobody on the other end, and then click the record button and record yourself kind of practicing. And that kind of thing can help as well. Desiree, if you're good, you know, on— I guess you said you're not so good on the phone or in Zoom. Face-to-face just is a different level of interaction. But if you can get good on the phone and Zoom, quite honestly, you're going to take your sales to a whole new place, especially in lockdown mode. Kind of, you have to get good at it. So my fingers are crossed. I think you'll do great. Practice, practice, practice. All right, Desiree, thanks so much for sending in your question. Friends, if you got a question you want answered, happy to answer it. ryan@ryandohrn.com. If I can be of help to you, my website is just like that, ryandohrn.com. D-O-H-R-N.
