In this brief sales‑training video, global sales coach Ryan Dohrn argues that the typical “About Us” or company‑history slide should be removed from every sales presentation. He explains that prospects who have booked a meeting already know who the seller is, so the slide is self‑serving and wastes time. Instead, he recommends replacing it with a slide that showcases happy customers and success stories, positioning the conversation around how the seller can help the prospect achieve success. He invites viewers to discuss the idea in the comments, notes that he has removed the slide from all his decks without negative feedback, and ends with a plug for his website and podcast.

Hey friends, Ryan Dohrn here, your global sales coach, and this is your sales training tip of the week. Now this one's going to be a little bit short, going to be a little brief, to the point, and might cause some of you to go, what? Make some comments down below. I'd love a little debate. All right, in nearly every one of your slide decks, there's one slide that should be yanked and removed. It's the slide that usually is entitled About Us. Or company history. Hey friends, trust me, every time I'm on a sales call and that pops up, I think to myself, oh great, here's a time when I can quick check my email, or here's the time where they're going to tell me about how great they are. Friends, recognize this: if people booked a meeting with you, they probably know who your company is, or they wouldn't have booked a meeting with you. Instead, replace that About Us or company history slide with a slide that shows your customers that are happy with you. Talk about the comp's customers that are happy with you, and while you're doing that, talk about your company history. An entire slide dedicated to about us, in my opinion, is very self-serving and doesn't get to the meat of the matter, which is how can I help you, Mr. or Mrs. Customer, be uber successful? Friends, let's talk about this down below in the comments section. I have a feeling some of you are going to disagree, and that's A-okay. I think a debate about sales is really worthwhile. I just know I removed that from all of my slide decks. And guess what? Haven't had one person say, hey man, maybe you should put in a slide to tell us a little bit more about your company history. Just think about it, friends. Remember folks, if ad sales was easy, everybody'd be doing it. If sales was easy, everybody'd be doing it. And they're not. So we're either crazy or we found a career that'll feed our families for a lifetime. All right. More about the podcast, more about what I can do to help you or your company. Over at ryandohrn.com, D-O-H-R-N. All right, friends, we'll see you next time. Bye.
