A sales technique where you ask prospects to rate their interest 1 to 10, then use their answer to move them higher. A 5 means they're on the fence, an 8 means they're interested but need approval. The goal is to get clarity instead of ghosting.

So there's 2 soft closes to test the water that I love. Let me share both of them with you. Okay, the first soft close, I call it the 1 to 10 close. So let's just say that my prospect is Bonnie. Bonnie, with all that being said, meaning that you've gone through the whole sales call, you're to the point where you're going to test the water, do your soft close. Bonnie, with all that being said, you know, kind of on a scale of say 1 to 10, 1, you know, you're, you know, you're okay, but 10, like you're really, really interested, like you absolutely Absolutely love this idea. Where are you at on a scale of 1 to 10? Now, if they said to you, I don't know, I don't know where I'm at, okay, then that— you need to guide them through what you need from them. So you would say, well, on a scale of 1 to 10, a 5 would mean you're kind of on the fence. You don't hate the idea, you don't love the idea, but you know, you're kind of on the fence, and I would love to get you from a 5 to a 6 or a 7. Now, if you happen to be a 3, a 3 would mean you're really not that interested. So let's not go any further. An 8 would be you're pretty darn interested, but you just need to get signed off by somebody else or need to sleep on it or pray on it or whatever the circumstance is. So now with that being said, on a scale of 1 to 10, 1 you're like, eh, whatever, and 10 you love it. Where are you at? And hopefully you can get them to a 5, 6, 7, something along those lines. See, friends, if you don't do a soft close, you may leave the meeting thinking the meeting went great. And then they ghost you because they don't wanna say no to a really nice person. Are you a nice person? I assume that you are. That's what happens a lot. So that's the 1 to 10 close.
