Ryan Dohrn tells Dale from Boston that to-do lists fail because tasks never get scheduled. Move them to your phone, break them into smaller pieces, and assign each one a 15-20 minute calendar block. Without that time slot, the list just grows and nothing gets done.

Hey friends, Ryan Dorn here, your global sales coach, and I'm answering questions today, your listener questions that you've sent in to ryan@ryandorn.com. So keep those coming. All right, next question. Dale from, he said from just outside Boston. Dale from just outside Boston. Where are you? Are you in Worcester, Mass.? Is that where you are? All right, Dale from just outside Boston asked this question. I have a to-do list. But I don't seem to get it done. What should I do? So Dale, first, you're making some good progress because at least you have a to-do list. Now, what I do— where's my phone? I'm going to manage my to-do list in my phone. I don't usually have a written to-do list. So manage it in your phone. It'll go with you everywhere because your phone goes with you to the bedroom, to the beach, to the bus, to the bathroom, you name it, right? But I believe that a to-do list without a calendar assignment, without a calendar item, is just a to-do list. So what I do is I take my to-do list every morning, I look at it, I break it down, and then I put little time blocks on my calendar to actually get things done. I truly believe a to-do list without a calendar time block is just a to-do list. So Dale, what's probably happening is you're adding to your to-do list, but you're not adding a time to get something done, which just means your to-do list gets longer and longer each day, and then that gets more frustrating. So Make sure whatever you're putting on your to-do list, you're adding not an hour, add like a little 15 or 20-minute time block on your calendar today, tomorrow, or whatever to get those things done. And Dale, I wish you the best of success on that. Hey friends, Dale from just outside Boston.
