In this motivational sales‑training monologue, Ryan Dohrn explains that the "secret sauce" of successful selling is intentionality. He warns against randomness—sending emails with arbitrary subject lines, using inconsistent templates, or presenting ad‑hoc pricing and proposals—and urges salespeople to act deliberately in every business interaction. While spontaneity (e.g., thoughtful gestures for partners or colleagues) is valuable, it should also be purposeful rather than haphazard. Dohrn emphasizes that sales success comes from strategic planning, extensive practice, and a touch of luck, likening it to sports where preparation and chance both matter. He concludes by encouraging listeners to adopt a deliberate mindset, work hard, and make their families proud.

Hey friends and fans, people ask me all the time, what's the secret sauce? What's the secret sales sauce? And one of the best pieces of advice I can give you is don't be random. Be deliberate in everything that you do. Don't randomly send emails with random subject lines. Don't randomly send different templates. Don't randomly come up with pricing ideas and proposals that you randomly present. Friends, You wanna make sure that you're not random in anything that you do in business or in life. Now, don't be confused. I mean, spontaneity, now that's a good thing. Like, go buy your partner some flowers or take somebody out to dinner that'll appreciate it. Tell somebody thank you and how much you appreciate them. That's called spontaneity, and don't make that random either. Friends, every day is not perfect in sales. I get it. Tough— it's tough out there in sales land. But you wanna be asking yourself Is what I'm doing today deliberate, or am I just creating a random occurrence? Because random occurrences, friends, they're not gonna get you anywhere. The way that you get ahead in sales is by being strategic, practicing a lot, and having a little bit of luck out there, right? Kinda sounds like some of my football teams lately. You do need a little bit of luck if you're gonna win. Friends, never forget, randomness is not gonna work in sales because this is not an easy job. You can't be random and expect to win. Nobody that's successful is just random in doing it, and they're not just lucky. A little bit of luck does help. If this job was easy, friends, everybody'd be doing it, and they're not. You're not crazy. This is a great career. It'll feed your family for a lifetime. Don't be random today. Be deliberate. Get out there and sell something. Make us all proud, would you?
