Ryan Dohrn breaks down his daily time blocks for sales work: prospecting at 11 am and 4 pm, retention at 10 am, follow-ups at 3:30 pm, wrap-up at 5 pm. He says randomness kills productivity and recommends locking these blocks into Google Calendar or Outlook, repeated Monday through Friday.

Hey friends, Ryan Dohrn, your sales and marketing coach here, and let's talk about your sales and marketing tip of the week. I'm a big believer in time management. As a matter of fact, in my personal life I'm pretty random, but I realized in my professional life randomness is gonna kill my day, and it did for years. So I don't know where it was when I heard about time blocking, but man, I took it to heart and I realized something. If you put your heart and soul into time blocking, you will change your life for the better. See, every morning when I get up and my alarm goes off, my feet hit the floor, I realize that there's some semblance of normalcy to my day because I have things that are important to me time blocked. For example, at 11 o'clock and 4 o'clock, you all know this, that's when I prospect. Great times to prospect. At 10 o'clock, I'm doing retention. At sometime around 3:30 or so is when I'm following up with people. And of course, 5 o'clock, 5:30, I'm wrapping up the day and headed to happy hour, baby. Remember, time blocking your day and becoming a time management ninja is something that's vividly important. Set it on your Google Calendar, set it on your Outlook calendar. Make these important times of each day repeat every single day, Monday through Friday. And just recognize this: stop being random. Randomness is going to kill your day, and you're not going to get as much done. So time block your day if you want to be a raging success in the sales and marketing business. All right, I'm Ryan Dohrn, your sales and marketing coach. You can find out more about what I do for you and your company online over at ryandohrn.com. All right, friends, we'll see you next time.
