Two founders debate VC versus bootstrapping. Taking venture capital means aiming for massive scale and minimizing dilution. The real trap is getting stuck in the middle, where you lose ownership without the upside of either path.
Any advice? Right.
Well, I think when you take venture capital, you're kind of aiming high. You know, you're aiming high and you're going for size of the pie. And I think that's the mentality you have to have. And you try and maximize or optimize around minimal dilution for everybody. But ultimately, it really is the size of the pie that matters in that scenario. So otherwise, I always say bootstrap your business. Like, don't take any venture capital and own 100%. That's another great strategy. But don't get stuck in the middle.
Yeah, stuck in the middle.
That's Death Valley.
But it can be hard to see the middle sometimes. Right. I come out of yc, I'm super hot.
