Jason M. Lemkin argues founders should expand internationally early instead of staying focused on the U.S. market. HubSpot generates 46% of revenue internationally by localizing products and hiring regional managers, while Bill.com stayed more U.S.-focused. Individual geographies can deliver 8-10% of revenue each.

I I can't I can't emphasize this so much to founders that are too myopic about their local market. About the US market leaders like Bill.com took a long time to go international as the product is hyper localized to American financial services but HubSpot ain't. You can use HubSpot pretty much everywhere especially if you use a localized version and if you have any material amount of revenue outside the US lean in there, invest in their localize your product early, hire a country manager in emea, in APAC or whatever. You have a chance to get even 8, 9, 10% of your reven in geography. That is a huge accelerant and if HubSpot had not gone as global as international is today it would literally be half the size if it had been to North American folk. 46% is high spot is an outlier here so it's great to learn from but challenge yourself to go more global more early. It is not a distraction. It can be a magic accelerant.
