Jason M. Lemkin tells CEOs to stop being cagey and admit when they don't know something. Knowing 8 out of 10 answers is enough. Honesty builds trust faster than pretending to have all the answers.

Roughly 8 out of 10 answers; even 7 out of 10 within your industry is acceptable.
Why are you 10x better? Don't be cagey. The best founders, I can tell you are not cagey. And I know it's hard. I know we haven't many of us haven't done it before. I know it's can be intimidating, you can be insecure. But this is your job. You're the CEO. Be honest. And if you don't know the answer, just say that. I don't know the answer. And if you should know the answer and don't know the answer, it's okay to say that too. Listen, you should say I should know that answer. I've been in this space for a decade. But I don't. I'll get back to you on it. But it's a great question. I should know the answer. Look, if you, if you say that to every single question, it's a, it's a fail. But you can say it once or twice. It's okay to know 8 out of 10 of the answers. Even in your industry, 7 out of the 10.
