5 Early Signs He’s Emotionally Unavailable

In this coaching video, relationship expert Sami Wunder addresses high‑achieving single women who waste time with men who lack emotional commitment. She argues that men always give early signals of availability, but women often miss them because emotions cloud objectivity. Wunder proposes a five‑step filter to identify emotionally unavailable men: (1) adopt the belief that men reveal their intentions early and stay objective; (2) ask directly what the man wants on a dating app or first date and treat the answer as a necessary but not sufficient filter; (3) watch for consistent investment of time, energy, money, and attention as a strong indicator of genuine intent; (4) postpone sexual intimacy to test whether a man is interested in the person or just the assets, using the delay as a rapid diagnostic; (5) practice “rotational dating,” meeting multiple prospects while evaluating consistency and maintaining boundaries. She adds a timeline cue: by about eight weeks a truly emotionally available man will initiate a commitment conversation; if he does not, the woman should consider him unavailable. Wunder also promotes a free “Love Blocks Quiz” based on her 6‑pillar Love Success Framework to help women uncover personal blocks that hinder attracting a suitable partner. The video ends with a call‑to‑action for viewers to comment “commitment” for a follow‑up video.

If you're tired of wasting your time and your precious childbearing years on emotionally unavailable men who never commit, never take things to the long-term marriage and proposal, then this video has been made just for you. This is dating and relationship coach Sami Wunder, and for the last 10 years, I've been helping high-achieving, strong, successful women attract and create beautiful, loving romantic relationships with masculine, emotionally available men. Now, one of the top Complaints, pain points, or struggles I hear from single smart women in my Elevate group coaching program is, Sami, these emotionally unavailable men, they are everywhere, and they never show the signs in early dating. And so I end up spending a lot of time and wasting a lot of time, sometimes months, sometimes even years, with the wrong guys because it's so hard to figure out whether a man is emotionally unavailable or not, Especially if he's doing all the right things and saying all the right words. So in this video, what I want to do is help you develop a filter for emotionally unavailable men, because trust me, men are always giving you the signs. And this is actually an energetic invitation I'm going to make to you as a single woman. I invite you to start believing that if you're not seeing the signs in early dating and you feel like men can hide it really well and you're not able to see it for months or even years, Then you have to shift this belief system. What is most likely happening for you is that when you like a man, you are not able to recognize that he's emotionally unavailable. And this doesn't mean anything's wrong with you. It just means you're a human being, and when your own emotions get involved, and when you start having feelings for a guy, it is difficult for you to remain objective. This is why the most helpful belief system you can develop in order to become smarter in how you're dating is understanding That men are always giving us the signs. And the more objective you can stay, the less emotionally attached you can stay, despite seeing potential in the man, despite liking a man, despite seeing that he actually feels good to your nervous system. That is when you are going to be able to spot the signs. And that is the big shift energetically you want to make, which is, if I started to believe that Men are always revealing themselves in early dating. Men are always showing the signs. Based on this new belief system, I have to make sure that I am not overlooking the red flags, that I am showing up, noticing these things if men reveal these signs, and ensuring that I act accordingly. When I see the sign of emotional availability in a man, I know how to show up. I know how to call things off. I know how to stop dating this person. So let's get started with the number one thing you want to do if you want to filter out emotionally unavailable men in the early dating process. I tell my clients, ask a man what is he looking for, and don't wait too long to ask. In Elevate, we literally tell our clients, ask this on a dating app, or if you forgot to ask it before the date, just ask it on the first date. What are you looking for? What brings you to a dating app? What is your intention about being on Bumble, being on Tinder? Now, of course, there are seducers who will sweet-talk you and say all the right things, but this is still an important question to ask because most men out there are not serial liars. Most men out there are not as manipulating as you think they are. They're actually just lads and blokes, sometimes unintentional, sometimes just showing up in dating to have fun. So most men will give you a truthful answer, and if you hear anything like, I'm just looking for some fun, I'm looking for casual, I'm just here Let's see where it goes. I'm just recovering from a breakup. I'm just recovering from a separation or a divorce. Wanna see what's here. Take those words on face value and do not date such men. Honestly, if you are like my Elevate clients and you are a serious, intentioned woman who doesn't want to waste her childbearing years going in circles with all these never-prepared, have-no-direction kind of men, Then you are better off not dating these men. Now, as I also said, any man can dish out sweet words. So it's important to ask this question, but it's also important then to see what happens next. Because if you're dealing with a seducer or a charmer, he's going to give you the perfect answer. So you still have to be like super switched on and super smart and super logical in how you're dating, because seducers and charmers know that women are emotional beings. And once we like a man, we can start excusing behavior or overlooking red flags or overlooking the signs. So do ask this question, but treat this question as a necessary condition, not a sufficient condition for showing if a man is emotionally unavailable or not. But definitely stop dating the guy who says any of the casual stuff to you. Now, after assuming that a man has said he's looking for a serious relationship, he's looking for ultimately his wife, now we're gonna come at step 2 of filtering for emotionally unavailable men like I teach my 11 And here you want to observe for consistency in action. So men are rational creatures. Women are more emotional creatures in dating. Men understand that in order to get you off the market, if a man wants to girlfriend you, wife you, he has to invest his time, energy, and resources into you. So if he's going to be lazy, somebody else is going to come in and take you off the market. One of the best indicators of a man's intention and emotional availability for something real is how consistently he invests his time, energy, money, and resources into you. Now, if he's inconsistent, that is a great marker, not just of emotional unavailability, but also the fact that he might be dating other women and you are a placeholder. But again, if you start to make dating more objective versus emotional, you're gonna attract your husband so much faster than when you are bringing all these feelings and personal triggers into the connection. So a man who is looking to build something real with you is going to show up consistently. And this brings me to point number 3 about emotional unavailability, which is you must not sleep with him if you really want to test his intention. This is the part where many women fight me. They don't agree with this. They believe, like, sex is an organic part of getting to know a guy. And I can really understand and empathize if you're a high-achieving woman who's ended up in relationships where you've not had great sex with the partner, or you wish you had tested out his apparatus early on because now you're disappointed. I totally get all of that, but don't let that fear and the past negative experience drive you to sleep too quickly with a guy, because this is where things get really messy. This is where you will have emotionally unavailable men, once they get access to your assets, once they are sleeping with you, now it is very difficult to figure out if this is just for the moment or if this is a connection he's thinking about in the long run. Because strategically, think about it this way: if you were to hold back your assets and you were to not sleep with a man quickly and really extend it as much as you can, like we teach our clients in Elevate, then one of the two things will happen. Either a man will drop off because he's in it for the goods, he's in it for your assets, and you clearly seem to be a Sammy Wunder diva, so you're not giving away your assets too quickly, and he is disappointed because he wants it fast. So just not sleeping with a guy is going to reveal to you a man's intentions super duper fast, because if he's just in it for the goods, he's just in it for the short run, he's not going to be able and available to continue investing his time, money, and effort into a woman who's not giving him what he So this not sleeping with a guy is actually one of the strongest filters you can have to get rid of commitment-phobic men, to get rid of men who want to make low effort, and/or men who are love bombing you at the start, or being like the super seducer type, like I teach in the 3 Male Archetypes I talk about in Elevate. The seducer type of man is just the one who's coming in with very strong intensity, wants to move things fast, is love bombing you, taking you to Michelin-star restaurants on date 1 and date 2, and he's doing that with the intention of getting you in bed. of wanting to sleep with you, wanting to get access to your body. And when you don't give that, his motivation is going to fall very fast. Whereas the real guy— and that's what I was talking about, I said there were 2 outcomes that were possible when you delay intimacy— and the second outcome is when you delay physical intimacy with a man and he still keeps coming in with investing his resources, investing his time, investing his attention, investing his money. Now you know we have something real going on here. So in one of my other YouTube videos, I talk about this concept of men's brains have these 2 boxes. You know, there's the short-term mating strategy box, and then there is the long-term mating strategy box. And what happens over time is, at the beginning, almost all men, even good men, even commitment-oriented men, are operating from the short-term mating strategy. I mean, if I could very quickly win your heart and get you into bed, why would I say no to that. However, if you keep physical intimacy not on the table and a man keeps investing in you, now that is a good sign because that investment automatically gets him to open up and become more and more emotionally available towards you over time because he's investing in this connection, he's investing in you. Now the next tip I want to give, if you want to filter off emotionally unavailable men and not get in the trap is to rotational date. Now remember, rotational dating is pillar 4 of the Love Success Framework for single women who are looking to attract high-intentioned masculine men in record time, because that's what we do in Elevate. And what you don't want to do is put all your eggs in one basket. Now again, remember, rotational dating is not rotational sleeping, which means you don't have to sleep around. The goal of rotational dating is basically to understand that men bond slowly over time, so there's just no way for you to know as a woman if this man is going to stick around for the long run or he's just here for the short run. And so your job is to not get all hyped up about this new guy that you've met. You just look for consistency. You follow the process. You, you know, date with intention. You ask the right questions. You notice the amount of effort he puts in. You never put in more effort than he does, and you keep evaluating him over time while not giving access to physical intimacy, because most men will disappear when a woman holds these boundaries and holds this rule for herself. And finally, what I want to say, if you want to filter an emotionally unavailable man quickly, I think around the 8-week mark, most men will naturally bring up the conversation around commitment. Now, before I tell you what this conversation should look like and what to do if it doesn't happen, I want to make sure you know that I have a brand new free resource called the Love Blocks Quiz, This is a one-of-a-kind free quiz that you can take to figure out what exactly is your core love block that is preventing you from attracting your dream man. Now, this is an incredible resource because it's based on my 6 Pillar Love Success Framework that I teach you inside ELEVATE, and it will help you identify what exactly is the one thing that keeps happening in your dating life that is preventing you from attracting your dream man. It's completely free, and the link is in the video description below. So take the quiz. It's going to be an incredible insight into what exactly is going on that you are not getting the kind of results you want with your dating efforts right now. So back onto the commitment conversation around the 8-week mark. So this is something we talk about in Elevate, because when you understand the psychology of an emotionally available man, he's not going to leave you open to be rotationally dated by other men forever. He's going to bring the conversation of where is this going, do you want to be my girlfriend, what's happening in our future, how do you feel about me. And if a man doesn't bring this up by week 8, we might be having a problem. Now, we might be dealing with somebody who just wants to access you more casually without offering you a label, without defining the connection. Guys are extremely rational, they're extremely smart, and if a man is not offering to you off the dating market around the 8-week mark, we have a problem, and that could be a deep sign of emotional unavailability. Now, if you want me to help you understand what you should do next if a guy you've been seeing who has not offered you a commitment, not even brought up the future around the 8-week mark, then just comment commitment below, and if there's enough interest, I'll tell you exactly what I tell my Elevate clients if the man they're dating consistently for some time hasn't asked them at least to be their girlfriend— forget about being wife— but has not brought up the future relationship talk. I'll tell you exactly what to do. Comment commitment below, and my team will let me know if there's enough interest. I'll record the next video on this topic for you. Lots of love. I hope you enjoyed this today.
