When a man is guarded around you, he's literally building this wall so that you and him do not get vulnerable, do not get emotionally connected. And sometimes it's crazy how emotionally unavailable men can make effort for you. They can call you, they can send you presents, they can text you, they can even sometimes see you on dates, but they are going to be very guarded around you emotionally. Now, when a man does that, he is not emotionally connecting with you, and he's of course trying to prevent himself from being vulnerable around you.
