Sammy Taggett (aka Shoebox Moses) recounts his origin—he was found as an infant in a shoebox in a dumpster and later adopted from a Philippine orphanage—and describes his mission to give back by creating educational opportunities for orphans. He explains using his platform (including performing at events such as Traffic & Conversion) to reach people (noting over 4,000 attendees saw him) and to support a foundation he built to work with the RSCC. He offers specific thanks to RSCC staff (Regional Director Vincent Gregario, Ma'am Glinda) and congratulates the organization on 55 years of service.

Sam.
So three years ago now, 2015, like mid-2015, we went back to my orphanage in the Philippines and we found out through a series of, you know, detection work and just like kind of drilling deep into who I am, we found out that I was found in a shoebox in a dumpster. And that's where I started. And I was found and then later adopted out of an orphanage in the Philippines, but I was found in a shoebox. The mission to me is to, in the broad sense, to give back and to give back in the way that I know how, which is to teach. And so I know that if I can teach.
Whoever shows up as students, I can teach them a better way to live, whether that means that they can get a different job, they can get a different career, they can follow their passion and they can figure out.
How to make a living from the.
Space that they're in, like, and in this case, orphans. And I want to be able to, like, put a platform for education there so they can figure out what they love and how to make a living and not get shoved back into a system that's broken for them. Because there's infinite wisdom out there. They just need to know how to get to it and what to do with it once they get it. And if we can provide that, if I can provide that, then that's the mission. And I'm not fully sure how we're doing it yet, but I know we're going to do it at this, which is called traffic and conversion. This was over 4,000 people all seeing who I am and that will all know who I am and all know my mission. And that is the most beautiful thing ever. Because for a long time I didn't know what my mission was. And my mission is to teach and educate and inspire the generation of little, little me's everywhere. Maybe it's in the orphanage or may.
Maybe it's in a school, or maybe it's my nephews or my niece.
But that's what I'm here to do and I've got a platform to do it. And this was the most important thing I could have done by getting the gift of the opportunity to be in front of that many people and just deliver some sick music and vibe for all these people. It was incredible.
Hey guys, what's up? This is Sammy T, AKA Shoebox Moses in California. Thanks for watching those clips. Desert some of my favorite shows from the last couple years. And one of the best things about being able to be on tour as a musician, as you can see Right now I'm actually at an event here in California. But one of my favorite things is this allows me to get back to some of my favorite places on Earth, which is actually the RSCC where I'm actually from. Some of you might not know that, but I was actually in the RSCC as a baby. So this is an amazing, amazing honor to be able to send this message to you guys and a huge congratulations on 55 years of amazing service and just being so amazing at what you guys do. So I just wanted to say thank you for that and also to let you know we'll be back. This last year, I was able to build a foundation which allows me to come back and work with you guys and support you guys even more in what you're doing for the kids in the Philippines. Philippines. And I just wanted to just say.
From the bottom of my heart, thank.
You so much for doing what you're doing. And I wanted to give you guys a couple specific thank yous. One, to.
Regional Director Vincent Gregario. I hope I said that right. Congratulations on 55 years of amazing services, what you get when you, when you're working inside these spaces. And then obviously to Ma' Am Glinda for just holding it down at the rscc. It's so great to meet you last year. I can't wait to see you more. And then congratulations on the new director.
Mamuela Hizon. I hope I said that right. But again, thank you guys so much for the amazing work you guys are doing. I wouldn't be here if you guys hadn't done or didn't do what you did for me and thousands of other kids in the Philippines. So from the bottom of my heart, thank you again and congratulations on 55 years of amazing service until November when we see you guys again. Much love and we'll talk to you soon.
