Cathead Bay is a bay on Lake Michigan on the west side of the tip of the Leelanau Peninsula. A good portion of the shoreline along Cathead Bay sits within Leelanau State Park, and that stretch of shoreline from Cathead Point to the private waterfront lots that are at kind of the northern part of Cathead Bay is known locally as Magic carpet, and that's for good reason. It is a magical stretch of shoreline, of sandy beach, that a lot of times it's difficult to find a rock.
