Gill, a great-great-grandfather who owned/logged the pier land, great-grandfather Hugh Scott, grandfather David Gill Scott, and uncle Paul. The speaker also mentions their spouse Shannon Corazon (a fourth-generation Leelanau resident), local landmarks such as Gillespie Church and the Bohemian Settlement, and general reflections on local history while recording from Gil's Pier before signing off to continue playing frisbee.

Hey there, everybody. Needy playing frisbee here. So I'm coming to you from Gil's Pier. Come on, let's go. And just wanted to share a little bit of my family history as it relates to Gil's Pier. So this photo that I'll put on the screen right now, that photo is of Alice M. Gill, who, that's a picture of her on Gill's Pier. Gill's Pier was my great-great-grandfather's, and he was a logger making lumber and logged off all this land and then sold the land for pennies on the dollar because at that time, you know, waterfront properties really weren't a thing. And boy, have times changed, right? So anyway, another interesting thing with my immediate family is that I married Corazon, Shannon Corazon, and she's fourth generation Leelanau County. And if you go to Gillespie Church, the disappearing church as you drive away from it on Sutterbow Road, there's a sign there that talks about the history of a lot of the families in the Bohemian Settlement, as it's called. The Kurts, the Kolariks, the Corsons, et cetera, and how they were establishing their farms. They were establishing their homesteads, working, you know, full-time logging for Gil, and then coming home and farming the rest of the time, establishing their farmsteads. So anyway, Shannon and I, you know, like to playfully say that even though she's fourth generation, I'm sixth generation, The bloodlines did not cross before us. So that's our story and we're sticking to it. So anyway, just wanted to share a little bit of that family history. My grandfather, by the way, was named David Gill Scott. My great-grandfather Hugh Scott is the one who married Alice Gill, and my uncle Paul lives in his house out on Scott Road. So a little bit of, a little bit of history there, um, just to share a little bit of my background. Uh, certainly I am proud of it, um, and, uh, Northport is a beautiful area as we know, and, um, so far we haven't been foolish enough to leave it. So, um, anyway, coming to you on this sunny day. DeeDee's still wanting to play, so I'm gonna sign off and continue my role, uh, as frisbee thrower. All right, talk to you soon. Thanks.
