Home inspectors are legally hired by buyers but must remember they're guests in someone else's home. The seller often isn't even present during the inspection, which means inspectors need to respect the property and occupants while doing their job for the person who paid them.

And we always have to remember, even though we work for them, we're contracted legally with our client before we do an inspection, we are also guests in a stranger's home. We often will never, never even meet the seller of the property. They're usually— they vacate the property when we're there.
