Hey there, Sander Scott coming to you from Black Sheep Farm Animal Sanctuary. I am right behind me here, you can see I've got the fans running, um, I've got my maple, uh, sap evaporator going. Show that to you. This is a— it's called a divided pan. And, um, DeeDee's helping me, but she's a little preoccupied with Francis. My folks' mule over there. I don't know if you can see it through the, the vines here, but, um, anyway, I converted, uh, an old aviary out at my folks' place. This used to have peacocks in it, um, back when they really had their— a lot of animals out here. Uh, this was an aviary. So what I've done is put the fans up to blow the steam from the evaporator out. And it's maple sugar season, so we're getting lots of sap out here and at my place, and then I just bring it out here to, um, to run that evaporator. So, um, I'll open the— yeah, the wood goes, wood goes in there. This, the stainless steel pan here sits on top, and, and then it's just a matter of boiling it all down. So I'm going to take it up, take you out here and just show you the aviary itself. So, you know, obviously the smokestack was not in here. That's something I had added to be able to put the evaporator, in here. And I just don't have like a sugar shack at my house, so this seemed to be the best place to convert. And, you know, get this— the fans are working well, getting the steam out of there, as you can see. So yeah, maple syrup season, yet another sort of outdoor activity, especially northern Michigan. Um, I talk a lot about reasons to own your own home You know, a lot of different outdoor activities that you might enjoy that when you rent, you really are not, you know, you have to check with the landlord before you go tapping trees for maple syrup or before you beekeep or before you maybe plant a garden, all those things. So, you know, it's this kind of activity, by the way, if you check out on Instagram the Blomstedt You know, I sold that family their home and acreage in Cedar, and they're just absolutely loving it, loving the ability to do what they want to do in northern Michigan when it comes to homesteading type activities such as this. So, all right, if you have any questions about maple syrup production. I'm no expert by any means. I'm totally a hobbyist, but I did invest in this evaporator from Smokey Lake, and it's well worth the investment compared to how much time I was having to put in evaporating it in a different way.
