Welcome to Suttons Bay, Michigan. I'm Sander Scott, your local host, and this is the American Dream Suttons Bay style. So Suttons Bay, the town, gets its name from the actual bay, which is a bay that sits within Grand Traverse Bay. It is what the Native Americans in the area called a Nia-tawanta, giving it shelter from the harsh weather that sometimes can accompany being right on Lake Michigan. Now let's explore what makes the town of Suttons Bay a perfect place to visit, live, or even call your vacation home. From the quaint downtown streets lined with unique shops and restaurants to the tranquil beaches and vibrant marinas, Suttons Bay offers something special for everyone. Let's start our journey with the heart of Sutton's Bay's downtown. This walkable, vibrant district is home to over 25 unique shops offering everything from handcrafted jewelry and art to gourmet food. And when you've worked up an appetite, you'll find a fantastic selection of restaurants. Hop-A-Lot Brewing Company is a must-visit. It's a perfect spot to relax with a craft beer in their outdoor space. Surrounded by nature. Martha's Lelandau Table offers European-inspired dishes made from locally sourced ingredients. And if you're in the mood for something more hearty, North Country Kitchen and Bar serves up comfort food that will make you feel right at home. Just a short stroll from downtown is Marina Park, where you can enjoy Sutton's Bay's beautiful beaches and watch the boats come and go. For those who love the outdoors, Sutton's Bay offers more than just beaches. Herman Park is a local favorite for hiking, biking, and even a casual game of tennis or pickleball. And if you're thinking about exploring further, the Leelanau Trail provides miles of scenic paths through some of Michigan's most beautiful landscapes. Now let's talk about living here in Sutton's Bay. Just 2 blocks from downtown is Bayview Condominiums, a community that perfectly blends convenience with serene beauty of waterfront living. To give you an insider's perspective, I'm about to sit down with one of the residents at Bayview Condominiums to learn more about what life is like there. So we're here in We're in the Bayview condominium complex and we're lucky enough to have residents. He's been here since 2013, Craig Shantz, here with us. What makes Suttons Bay and Bayview special?
In Suttons Bay, we're sailors and this is really a boating community. You have a municipal marina, but you also have two private marinas. If you're interested in the Great Lakes and you're, and you're want to learn more about them, that's a great place to go visit.
What other things do you like about living in Bayview and in Sutton's Bay generally?
Just the, the view that we have out of our window. We, we see a lot of wildlife and we love nature. I didn't think I'd ever like living in a condo, but it turns out I love it. The other thing we like about Bayview is it's right in the village limits and we can walk to any of the restaurants, we can walk to the movie theater.
So thanks so much, Craig, for taking the time to visit with us and tell us a little bit about of Bayview Condos and what life is like here and in the— what it's like to live in Sutton's Bay. Oh, um, really appreciate your time. And, uh, you probably want to get out on the water. Would love to. All right, thanks. Really appreciate it.
Thank you.
