Your bandeja down the line is costing you points. Hitting across the court instead uses the double-glass effect to slow the ball and keep your opponent from attacking, which is the whole point of the shot.

If you are losing lots of shots and points with your bandeja, you are probably playing the ball too fast and too down the line. You don't want to play down the line because it opens up space on your side of the court, and also the rebound is so much easier for your opponent. It's so much more effective if you play this bandeja across, because even if you do hit it a little bit too hard, you can use the double glass, and that's going to slow the ball down. It's going to make it more difficult for your opponents, and you can come up to the court and cover your net position. Because remember, the purpose of the bandeja is to retain the net position.
