Delphi Brea and a sports psychologist break down the mental side of padel. Training your mind matters as much as your strokes if you want to win matches. They're offering a mental toughness course on paddleschool.com.
If you struggle with the mental side of the game, you feel like on court you get a bit frustrated or there's a little bit of pressure and you don't play your best. Or you might play really well in training and for fun, but whenever you're in a match, you end up getting a little bit nervous and don't play your best. This video is for you. We're going to talk about the importance of the mental side of the game with Delphi Brea, how she trains that side for her, and also some suggestions for you on how you can improve this and turn it into a bit of a weapon in your matches. When we can consider the mental side of the game. So often it's whether players fight harder in a match or they're more determined or they're able to keep calm in difficult pressure situations. Now, Delphi Brea is one of the best fighters, well known for her mental strength in matches. And we said to her, does she often win matches just through mental strength alone? Here's her answer. You can hear from Delphi's answer there. It should be trained like any other shot rather than people thinking that it's a consequence of their lifestyle. Either it's a good day or a bad day or I was stressed at work so I wasn't focused on the court or I was thinking about lunch, whatever it might be. But if you train it, you will be able to train your mental preparation so that you approach each match with in the best way possible. And so we asked Delphi how does she train her mental side. Delphi there emphasizing the importance of working with a professional a little bit like if you were going to train your Padel game, you would want to work with a high quality paddle coach. And that's exactly the reason we built our mental toughness course. So it's 21 videos and we work with a top performance psychologist, JJ he works with a lot of Olympic athletes in different sport and we managed to sit down with him, working with our GB players and discuss all of the different areas around preparation before training, preparation before matches, how you can get in a good state of mind and avoid frustration, anger, some of those other negative symptoms that you often hear on the court. Part of the reason we made our mental toughness course so in depth is the experience that I've had teaching players in the game, both at a recreational beginner level, but also with our GB team is the mental bit is so important that if players have a good mentality in training, a good mentality in matches, they can often come through games that, that they might not otherwise win. And so I think if you, as a player, want to improve your game, whether it's training on the court, technically with your shots, or it's winning matches, if you apply these principles in the course to that learning, you will actually improve so much more quickly, and you will beat players that you don't think you'll be able to beat. Like with all our courses on the paddleschool.com platform, we want to give you access to the advice that professionals get. And this mental toughness course is exactly that, with our performance sports psychologist. So I'll give you access to that here. There's a link that you can follow to go and check that out. And then up here, we're going to look at one tactic that can help you when you actually do step onto the court.
