Sandy Farquharson walks through week one of a padel improvement plan: identify your single biggest weakness that causes unforced errors, then start a Match and Training Journal to track what goes wrong and why. Focus on one thing, understand it, fix it before moving to the next.

So in week 1, we're going to focus on 2 main areas. The first is clarity around what your main weakness is. And I don't mean I can't finish with my smash and I want to hit my smash harder, which seems to be the answer to everyone's problems. But actually, where are you making mistakes in your game? If you could remove unforced errors from one part of your game, what would it be? And start from there. And when you find that shot or area within the court, what is causing you to do those unforced errors and getting real clarity on that. Now, we have a Padel School journal, a Match and Training Journal. You don't have to use that. You could use your own journal. But in that journal, we ask a few tactical questions and technical questions around what you need to focus on and setting your goals. Now, whether you do this on your own or you do it within the journal, it's really important that you are super clear on your biggest weakness. As opposed to saying, "Well, I want to improve 25 different things in my game."
