Answer these things in 5 seconds or less.

Sandy Waggett says your homepage has five seconds to show who you are, what you do, who it's for, where you are, how to reach you, and whether someone can buy right now. Add a way to capture leads for people not ready to buy.

Good morning, everyone. Sandy Weigt here with MSW Interactive Designs. And today I'm here with another marketing tip. This one's a follow on to a video that I did early last week about what should go on your website. And last week we talked about keeping it very simple and driving the user to a specific action that you want them to take. But we didn't get into specifics about what kind of things you should include right there on the homepage that they should know in the first five seconds of when they get there. So it's quite easy. You want to make it obvious who you are, what you do and who you do it for, who you are, what you do and who you do it for. So then the user says, okay, I may want to talk to this person. So from there you want to make it very, very simple. Where are you located? How do I get ahold of you? What hours can I get ahold of you? And can I buy right now? And if I can buy right now, how do I do that? Because I might want to buy right now if I'm not quite prepared to make the buying decision at this particular moment. How do I get more information from you? It might be the middle of the night. I'm not gonna call you right now and I might not call you tomorrow if you make me wait for the information I'm looking for. So that's where your lead capture mechanism comes into play. And you try to anticipate the questions that the user that comes to your website is going to want answered and make that available in the form of a lead capture mechanism. That's it. It's really pretty simple. All on the homepage. Make it all obvious and available. First 5 seconds someone hits your page, that means there's not a lot of text. Right up front. Yes, there's gotta be text later. Search engine piece, but I'm just talking about the communication piece with the person when they hit your website. So I hope that helps. Sandy Waggett with MSW Interactive Designs. Have a great day.
