IT'S SO SIMPLE - HOW TO WIN IN THE MARKETPLACE

Sandy Wardenburg Waggett argues that winning in the marketplace means showing up consistently, not running one-off ads. Join networking groups, write regular content, and position yourself as a resource. She's written a monthly business-journal article at Lake of the Ozarks for 11 years.

Good morning everyone. Sandy Weigt here with MSW Interactive Designs. And today I'm here with another marketing tip. And today my tip revolves around what happens when you invest money in your advertising and marketing strategy. It is so important that once you get that call that you have other things in place because it is up to you ultimately to convert the prospect into a customer. This takes time. In the marketplace, it's important that you are persistent and consistent in everything that you do. You know, there are emergency services, of course, where you get the one off clients and it's just a random call because someone needs something right now. But generally speaking, for most of us, we have to show up with persistence and consistency so that the business community in our local markets know us and trust us and see us as experts and the go to resource for whatever it is that we offer in the community. And that just comes with a very consistent and persistent effort. People who do just one off advertising or they try this and they give up, see nothing but failure over a period of time. People who are dedicated and really, really devote time to establishing their personal brand in the local community, in the marketplace for which they serve, are the ones that find success. It takes persistence and consistency. It's important that you be seen and known as a leader and a contributor in your community. And I've got some very simple strategies to make that happen. And so I'm just really putting your advertising and marketing efforts aside, I'm just really talking about building your brand over a period of time. And the thing you first have to do is show up. You need to be there when you're presented an opportunity in your community, in the business marketplace, to network or to get to know people, to build relationships. It is so important that you show up. The businesses that show up and build their personal brand through relationships and networking have the most success over the longest period of time. It's also important that you ask for help. And in other words, you can only achieve so much on your own. There are organizations out there that your business can join that can help you. There's mastermind groups, there's business networking group, there's chambers of commerce. All of these things work and they work really well. When you work them again, it really is going back to showing up and being committed to growing your personal brand as a contributor to the business community that you serve. And then you want to be seen as a resource, a resource in your area of expertise, not a salesman. A resource so someone can pick up the phone and ask you a question, ask for your advice reach out by email. You want to be open, reachable, and then you want to make sure that you stay in front of the people that you want to do business with. And how can you do that? Well, of course, with your marketing efforts, for sure. As an example, with MSW Interactive Designs, we write an article in our business journal every single month at Lake of the Ozarks. And we have for the past 11 years. Now, there are some times when we run out of time and we're up against a deadline. It's the last thing I want to do. But we do it every single month. We show up, we're persistent and we're consistent. We're a resource. We're contributors in our community. We're leaders in our community. And ultimately, that is the brand around which our business functions. You can do the same for your business. So when you're investing advertising dollars and building a marketing strategy, just don't forget it's all about persistence and consistency. You need to show up. You need to get the business community that you serve to know you and trust you and have confidence in your business. Establish yourself as the expert, and you want to be seen and known as a leader, but also as a contributor. You know, I am a longtime member of B and I, and the saying or motto in B and I is givers gain for a reason. If you can position your company as a contributor to your local community that you serve, you're going to win every time. That's my marketing tip for today. Sandy Weiheat with MSW Interactive Designs. Have a great day, everybody.
