Sandy Waggett explains that quote request forms capture the 2% of visitors ready to buy, while lead magnets target the 98% who leave. Lead magnets work only if paired with automated follow-up emails or texts to nurture those contacts.

Hey, everyone. Sandy Waggett with MSW Interactive Designs. And today I'm here to actually answer a question that a client posed to me yesterday that I thought others of you might have. So I was actually talking about the concept of lead magnets on a website. And she said, well, isn't my quote request form a lead magnet? And that would be the same for a contact form on a website, by the way. So when we're talking about lead magnets, we're not talking about quote request forms and contact forms. The difference is this. With a quote request or a contact form, the person has already made the decision to engage with you. In other words, they want to talk to you about something. They want a quote. They want you to reach out to them potentially and hopefully to do business with you or at least to gather more information about the possibility of doing business with you. In contrast, a lead magnet is something that you offer on your website that is of value, solves a problem for the potential client or the prospect or the visitor to your website that they download in exchange for an email address. The purpose of a lead magnet is to capture either the email address and, or the cell phone number. So you can engage a text messaging campaign, but it's to capture the information of the people who come to your site and haven't yet made the decision to either do business with you or get more information about doing business with you. And then what happens is with that lead magnet, they download it, you captured that email or text message cell phone number, and then you launch them into what we call a nurturing funnel. And the nurturing funnel is a series of emails or text messages that also offer value that are dripped to that person over a fixed period of time. And you're essentially nurturing them into starting the relationship with you. I mean, that's really the fundamental difference between what we call lead magnets on a website versus your quote request form or your contact us form. So, you know, that quote request form or that contact form is the 2% of people who convert through your website. The lead magnet is there for the other 98% and, you know, hopefully that 98% who leaves your website without engaging. There's a percentage of those people who are going to be enticed by the lead magnets that you make available. So they download them and you get, get that email and cell phone number. Now, here's the point. If you are capturing the email address and, or the cell phone number and you don't do anything with it, then it's a waste. So you don't want to just do a lead magnet by itself. You want to have the lead magnet and the nurturing funnel tied together. It's the nurturing funnel that becomes your automated system to grow the relationship over time and build the prospect into a customer. So hopefully that clarifies the difference between a lead magnet and a quote request form or a contact form on your website. They're not the same thing. They serve two very different purposes, and the lead magnet is to capture a percentage of that 98% who leave without engaging with you or asking you for a quote, or reaching out to engage you with service. Hope that tip helps. Sandy Waggett with MSW Interactive Design signing off. Have a great day everyone.
