Hey friends, Sandy Waggett here with MSW Interactive Designs and I have a question for you today. Are you really a small business advocate or do you just say so, pretend to be. Here's the thing with small businesses like mine, probably like yours, we rely on support from each other. So the reason I asked this question, a lot of people say shop small, support small local business, you know, and then they go order on Amazon. Okay, fine, I order on Amazon too when I can't get something locally. But here's how you can really be a small business advocate. When's the last time you wrote a review for a small local business or a friend who has a small local business? Reviews matter. When people are searching for companies to hire online, you know, they may look at two or three different ones and they're going to go look at the reviews and they're going to choose the company that has 35 star reviews over the company that has two five star reviews. That's just how it works. So when's the last time you stopped and wrote a great review for a small business? Matters to you.
Next question. When was the last time that you saw a post made by a local business? Probably a friend of yours, someone you know in the community.
Did you like it? Well, if you didn't, you're not helping them out. So anytime you proactively like or engage with posts on social media that are your friends and business owners, you are helping that small business. They're not trying to sell to you. You already know them. You might already be a customer, but you can help them by engaging with that post, clicking on like, and guess what? You know what? I have friends. I get so mad. You know who you are. By the way, they say social media sucks. No, you know what? It doesn't suck. If you own a small business, it is the lifeblood of marketing for your business. It is the cheapest form of advertising that a small business can do and it has the highest return on visibility. And if you are not liking or engaging with your friends and you know local business posts, then you're not helping them in any way. So my question to you, are you really a small business advocate or you just say so, take some action today. When you like posts, you also do yourself a favor. You start training your feed to see things that are positive, that are local to your community. You know, friends complain about seeing all this political crap and negativity on social media. Well, if you start engaging more with stuff that you like, guess what? You're going to train your feed and you're going to start seeing more of that stuff and you're going to help people out at the same time. Give it a try. Sandy Waggett with MSW Interactive Designs. Have a great day.
