Hey everyone. I just wanted to make a quick video because something just happened in my business and I wanted to share it with you because it's important. So one of my team members received an email from what looked like a law firm and it essentially was saying that we had not responded to some kind of a claim and that some kind of action was going to happen if we didn't. And of course, course they referenced a way to go pay the issue online to resolve and settle it immediately. And it honestly, if you didn't really know any better, which you know, many people don't seem legit. So I just want to show you how I handled it because you know, one thing that a lot of people might do is actually go to the referenced website and then there's so many bad things that could happen there. Even if you're suspicious of it, you know, there could be some code, like a code injection that could happen on your computer just from visiting the website. So let me, first of all, I'm going to share my screen really quick and I'm just going to kind of show you the process that I used to determine if this was a scam or not. So really quick, I'm just going to bring up my email. All right, so here's my email and this was the email that came in.
So it appears from Levitation Law Firm. And so my employee forwarded it to me and said I have no idea what this is. So everything about it looks legit, like there's a, I mean an American sounding name. Levitationlawfirm.com There is an address here and there's a supervising attorney, Don Leviton, which even sounds like that's where Levitation or Leviton. See, I even said Levitation Leviton Law Firm. And then there's a company with an address in Knoxville, Tennessee which is fascinating. Now funny thing about this company is that this one, 0711 Eagle Glenn Drive was actually a former address that I had. It's a residential address and then it says account number and it's regarding State Farm file and Casualty insurance companies, which is strange to me. And then the amount, it's not an unreasonable amount, but still it's just weird. And then it begins. We haven't had a response from you. The clients requested we afford you a final opportunity to amically resolve. And then it says payment must reach our office within five days. You can go to levitationlawfirm.com now of course there's not a link here, but I could just go directly to the website which you know, reasonable people who know not to click on links would normally just go direct to the website. But just because you go direct to the website doesn't mean that the website doesn't have a virus on it waiting for you. So you don't ever want to do that if you're not sure if you get something like this. So then it has an 800 number, which of course I'm not going to call. All of this just looks legit. So I don't know who these people are. I. It's weird. There's just some weird things about it. So instead of going to levitonlawfirm.com to check it out, I just actually went to Google and I went to Google And I googled levitationlawfirm.com scam. Now I wonder because I typed it wrong. I'm going to go levitton.
Law firm.com scam. I want to see what comes up here. Okay, so Levitan Law Firm is also a scam. This is in fact a scam center. So, yeah, everything says it's a scam, even the one that I accidentally typed. It is in fact a scammer. So anyway, I just, I felt the need to show you how I did it without going to the website and exposing myself to a potential virus on my computer because I wasn't sure what it was. And I didn't just type in levitonlawfirm.com I typed in levitonlawfirm.Com space scam because I'm researching whether or not this is a scam and it is. So anyway, I just felt the need to stop what I was doing and make this video just to show you guys an approach to dealing with stuff like this when it comes in because they really go after small businesses like ours. We're busy and just, I just want you to be aware and inform you. So I hope this was helpful and have an amazing day. Don't fall victim to scams.
