Great.
So we're going to start with a little poem, a little bit of Zen, to help us get in the mood for this bhakti session tonight. This is by Kino Tsurayuki. Approaching midnight on a hillside in springtime. In a temple hall. Even in my deepest dreams, the blossoms continue to fall. Approaching midnight on a hillside in springtime, in a temple hall, even in my deepest dreams, the blossoms continue to fall. We continue to let Satya Robyn, the energy the energy that it's conveying to sink in. And in a moment I'll go into the opening mantra. I think I just wanted to say, because I know not everybody here and everyone maybe joining online has been to a kirtan since I got ordained, so a little update. I am now Ravana Baba Sang of the forest. song in between following Satya Robyn. Yeah, so beginning to prepare your own bodies for some chanting and some singing. So that might mean sitting a little differently, maybe allowing the chest to be more open or creating a little bit more space Face the belly. And then finding your breath. Maybe you're really enjoying some belly breaths, feeling the movement of the diaphragm. Expansion, contraction. And then when you're ready, finding a hum. And then if you like, at some point turning that hum into an 'aww'. So we're going to move into our first mantra, 'Am Bhavabhani Jaya Jagadambhe.' 'Am Bhavabhani Jaya Jagadambhe.' Which is on page 1. So lovely people joining us online, hopefully you're on my mailing list and got the words that I emailed out a couple a couple of days ago. Check your spam if you haven't received that email. But otherwise, if you don't have access to Word, it's literally just Amber Bhavani, Jai Jagadguru.
Jagadamba. Amma Bhavani, Jai Jagadamba. Amma Bhavani, Jai Jagadamba. Amba bhavani, Jai Jagannatha. Amba bhavani, Jai Jagannatha.
So continuing to ease into it and wake up the voices quite gently, we're going to move into the Heart Sutra. We'll start this slow, and then at some point we'll double the speed. We actually double the speed by taking away the long gaps in between each line. And then at some point we will slow down again. As always, the Heart Sutra is an invitation to go beyond. And I feel like singing and chanting really has that capacity, that quality to be able to like really invoke that. So yeah, remind you now. With us, also on page 1. So, 'Gatte gatte, par gatte, para sam gatte, bodhisattva.' Gan te gan te, marangalvi.
Arasam ga te imburisu.
Glory so high.
Dante, Dante, Padre Dante, a son Dante, glory so high. Countee, countee, bye, countee. Has some countee boy so hard? Countee, countee, bye, countee. Kante kante, ba ga te, alesang ga te, o li so a. Kante kante, ba ga te, alesang ga te, He's so high.
So we're going to move into a one by Jim Fox, and it says, 'Namaste, namaste, I bow to the divine within you. Namaste, namaste, Jai Bhagwan.' So the words are also on page 1, so we can keep an eye Nice and easy. Page 1. Definitely can take some tambourine. Any takers for the tambourine? That's fine. No, no, it's too early. It's just too early in the night. I will do a bit of tambourine and you take us through a shaker. Is it less intimidating?
No? Okay, no worries.
Whenever I'm singing this one, I really love to imagine singing it to different people. Yeah, and it's in its original version when Jim Fox plays it, he actually has everyone getting up and moving around the room singing it to each other and looking into their eyes, and it's really beautiful. Should we do that? I mean, I would be so up for doing that. I don't know how many would take it to the heart.
No problem.
Yeah. So if you could maybe just imagine that you're looking into the eyes of some people that you care about some beloved friends, partners, family, teachers, anything like that. And if you like, absolutely, dogs are family. Dogs, yeah. And if you like, you can start, you can, you know, start off imagining seeing it someone who you really easily can see the Divine, and gradually move to people, you know, acquaintances, and then people who you might struggle to say that to, if you like. You can do it as a bit of a That's a gardener kind of practice. Or you can just sing it and enjoy. Definitely include yourself as well, like, you know, like in Bikini River. Is the sound all right, online streamers? Stream entrance? Maybe just give me a little word in the chat. Um, yeah, that'd be great. Thank you. As always, harmony is welcome.
Namaste. Namaste. I bow to the divine within you. Namaste. Namaste. Jai Jai Bhagavan.
Namaste.
Namaste.
Namaste. I bow to the divine in you. Namaste. Namaste. Jai Jai Bhagavan. Namaste. Namaste. I bow to the divine within you. Namaste. Namaste. Jai Jai Sai Baba. Namaste. Namaste. I bow to the divine in you. Namaste. Namaste. Jai, Jai Satya Robyn. Namaste. Namaste. I am bound to live and find me in you. Namaste. Namaste. Jai, jai Bhagavan. Namaste. Namaste. I bow to the divine in you. Namaste. Namaste. Namaste, namaste. I vow to live by you. Namaste, namaste. Namaste. Namaste. I bow before you. Namaste. Namaste. Namaste. Namaste. I bow to the divine in you. Namaste. Namaste. Namaste. Namaste. I bow to the divine within you. Namaste. Namaste. Namaste, namaste. I bow to the divine in you. Namaste, namaste. Namaste. Namaste. I bow to the divine within you. Namaste. Namaste. Namaste, namaste. I am bound with my spirit. Namaste, namaste. Namaste. Namaste. I bow to the divine within you. Namaste. Namaste. Namaste. Namaste. I am out. Goodbye, thank you. Namaste. Namaste. Namaste. Last time. Namaste. Namaste. I am now divinely in you. Namaste. Namaste.
Gorgeous. It's always such a feel-good one, and this is such a feel-good Satya Robyn's advice. So we are going to skip on page 1, and basically, and move into the Tara mantra. Green Tara coming from her abundant pure land of gorgeous forest and plants and flowers and radiant starlight. So I do have two versions that I do here sometimes, and this is going to be the faster version, if that means anything. Those of you who've listened to my Primal Electric music will recognize I use the tar, this tar, for one of them, actually. And we're ready for shaker. So, the tune's a little bit complex. I'm going to wave this hand around to try and convey the pitch. Obviously, if I go up, the notes are going— pitch is going up. Go down, pitch is going down. We'll start off with it, call and response, for a couple of rounds, or until it's starting to feel a bit more familiar, and then we'll go into it.
Om tare tu ta rei tu re so ha! Om tare tu ta rei tu re so ha! Om tare tu ta rem diu— Tare tu rei soa! Om tare tu tare tu rei soa! Om tare tu tare tu tei soa! Om tare tu tare tu re so ham. So I'm going to move out of page 1. Page 3, it's one of our super specials. Nothing is said, nothing is heard, heart is dancing with the universe. Nothing is said, nothing is heard, my heart is dancing with the universe.
La ilaha illallah.
It looks like, if in words, that there's another one, a 'si ta lam na' that is part of the same one. It is not, it's just I obviously forgot to put a spacer between those two. And this is a 'parida basman'.
Trying to do this call and response to start off with.
Not that I'm very good at doing call and response, but you'll get a round or two before I can get back and do any call and response. Or are you happy just to roll with Anybody? Okay, great.
Thank you.
And, uh, if we could just allow me to do a full verse before everybody joins in so that our alignment is So let's get to hear what it sounds like.
