Hi. I moved my desk today. I got up early, came into my office, and decided that I wanted to see what it looked like if I swapped over my desk and my bookshelf. And I'm in my new spot now, which means that just above the computer is the view. I will show you. It won't look as good as it does to me, but I've got the veg patch just there, and then beyond the veg patch— ah yes, you can see it— there's my view. Aren't I lucky? Across the valley. It feels really important to be more connected to the world. And what I'm really enjoying about it is that my computer is here, and then around my computer is the world— the sky, the bird feeder, the holly, the bench— and it puts things in perspective. It's very easy for me to get lost online, especially at the moment with the world pumping out fresh news every 6 minutes. It's easy for me to, to, to dive into online as a way of protecting myself from some of the stuff that's difficult. And ironically diving online creates as much, if not more difficulty than the difficulty I'm trying to avoid, as I get triggered by various things. I also feel more exposed here. People walk past this window to get into the garden and they'll be looking in at me as I sit here right near the window. And that's okay, that feels okay. It wouldn't have been okay a year ago. Now I feel like if they look in and I'm busy, I'll just ignore them, or I'll give them a quick smile. When we become closer to the world, it is more difficult. When we come into relationship with the natural world, with people, with things, with situations, stuff comes up, and it's okay to protect ourselves in whatever way we need to. Um, I've got my little spot down here now where I'll meditate, so I am just a little bit away from the window and a little bit protected. We all need those spaces as well. But today I am happy to be able to look straight out at all this beauty that changes all the time and remember the things that I still have. In these times of restrictions, I can watch the goldfinches take sunflower seeds from the feeder. I can see the clouds floating across, and I can talk to all of you. So thank you for listening. I'll probably do a few more of these, and I hope you're keeping well. Be gentle with yourselves and others.
