Maxime Warnault argues launching a SaaS in 2026 is a mistake because support costs eat profits. He recommends high-ticket AI services instead. His example: a free voice-following teleprompter that generates 24 ad variations from one video recording, replacing expensive tools like Wistia.

If you think that building a SaaS in 2026 is a good idea, let me change your mind. So I've been working on 3 different SaaS, one of which we scaled to $10K a month in 1 month. And the amount of work that goes into it and the amount of support that you need to deliver to people is not worth it. You, you— I'm going to tell you what to do instead, but you'd rather charge high ticket and use AI to deliver the service rather than having thousands of users or hundreds of users to make the same amount of money but have 10 times the work. Um, obviously it depends on the stage of life that you're in, but I don't think software is going anywhere. So now every time I have like an issue, something I want to do, for example today I have, uh, a lot of clients that need to record VSLs, video ads, and they all ask me the same question: "How do I record my VSL?" So what I've done is I created a teleprompter. It's free and it's better than any teleprompter you can find out there. And so basically all you have to do is like you go paste your script, you record, and it follows your voice. So you are always on script and then you can download the video from there. And basically we have all of our clients use this and now we tell them like record the entire thing in one go. So now we have only one video file to edit all of their video ads and we cut. So we give them 12 hooks and 2 bodies and we cut the 12 hooks, we add the body and we have 24 video ads up and running in minutes. So this is insane. And this would cost like, I don't know, hundreds, $100 a month for like Wistia, all these kind of things to access teleprompters and then hosting and all of these things. And now it's just like record the video, put it in Google Drive. The process is so much better. Clients are loving it. They stopped asking the question like, how do I record my video? We give them the script ready to go, copy and paste. Go into the— oh, oh, you didn't see, there was a little Bambi. Oh, so cool. Um, anyways, all that to say that everything is now getting replaced with cloud and every company is building their own software. So don't build a SaaS in 2026, please.
