In this opening episode of the "30 Days of Encore" series, Encore Life Coach Scott Perry explains the purpose of the 30‑day video diary: to document the launch of his new book, The Art of Encore Living: A Guide to Find Fulfillment, Forge Meaning, and Make a Difference in the Second Half of Life, and to show how he is building a supportive community around it. He candidly reviews the modest launch results—8 Amazon sales (5 pre‑sales, 3 day‑of‑launch) and 3 direct sales—while noting the Creative on Purpose/Success Finder community (the "Legacy Circle") currently has 14 members. Perry outlines his plan to recover from the weak launch by promoting the book to the right audience, moving readers into the Legacy Circle, and offering live calls, training, Q&A, and group coaching over the next 30 days. He thanks specific contributors (e.g., Nick Peterson, Dr. Jeff Spencer, Dan Nicholson, Jeff Moore, Laurel Portier) and invites viewers to comment "guide" or "community" for more information, while providing purchase options (Amazon or his own site). The video serves both as a transparent case study for anyone launching products and as a promotional invitation to join his purpose‑driven community.

Hey gang, Scott Perry here, Encore Life Coach and Chief Difference Maker at Creative On Purpose with 30 Days of Encore. What is this about? Who's it for? What's it for? And why would you care? Well, this is over the next 30 days going to be a series where I share some insight and updates about the launch of my new book, The Art of Encore Living: A Guide to Find Fulfillment, Forge Meaning, and Make a Difference in the Second Half of Life, and also show you how I'm building out the community that's going to help people that have bought the book, that are readers of the book, to go further with the 9 principles and practices that I teach to help people dial in the difference only they can make in the second half of life and turn that into an endeavor that fills them with a greater sense of flourishing and significance, but also helps them make a difference in the lives of people that they care about. So, What I'm going to do today is I'm— today's day one. It's the day after launch and today's episode is how to not launch a book. I'm going to show you some screenshots of what's happened so far. And then, then this will be the platform or the floor of where we are. And we're going to try to raise the floor and spread the word about the book, get it in the hands of more of the right people and also get more of the right people into the Success Finder community called the Legacy Circle. I'll share a little bit more about that in a minute. So, just in full disclosure, this is not my first rodeo. I've launched other books. Many of them have been top sellers or bestsellers in various Amazon categories. I've always put a lot of time into the planning and building that runway to launch a book. I did not do that with The Art of Encore Living through, you know, I have no good excuse or explanation for that. It was just something that got away from me. And I had promised I was going to launch the book yesterday on February 28th. So I did. And Here's what happened. I'm going to pull up a picture, a screenshot of yesterday's numbers. So these are yesterday's numbers, February 28th. I sold a total of 8 books on Amazon. 5 of those were pre-sales, 3 of them were day-of-launch sales. I had also sold 3 copies on my own platform, so people can buy on Amazon or on my own site. These are not very great numbers, certainly not the kind of numbers I'm used to, but they are, they are what they are. And I'm going to be sharing over the next 30 days or 29 days how I'm going to recover from my stumble at the launch and try to get more books in the hands of more of the right people. Not because I'm obviously not going to make much in the way of remuneration in terms of, you know, book sales are not going to help fund my retirement, but it is for me all about connecting with the right people, getting them to collide with the book and the principles and practices, and then move them into this community that I'm building in Success Finder called the Legacy Circle. And over the next 30 days, people in this community are going to have access to me on live calls where we're going to do some training, we're going to do some Q&A, we're going to do some group coaching. And I'll pull up the, the, that, those numbers here. You can see that the Creative on Purpose community, which is where the Legacy Circle is going to be housed, is up to 14 people now. One of those people joined today, so yesterday was actually 13 people. So that's where we're starting from. These are, you know, not awful numbers. It's not like zero, but it's certainly not the kind of numbers that I would have planned for had I done a better job with that. And what I want to do over the next several days is just do an over-the-shoulder. You're going to see me in real time, day to day, trying to recover from my, my stumble at the starting line and do my best to build a thriving enterprise, build a community of fellow travelers that's going to really benefit from the material in the book and, and also help them get their legacy endeavor off the ground. So if you are interested in learning more about either the book or the community, the, the Legacy Circle, just leave a message down below. You can put in guide or community, and I'll be happy to private message you and give you information about where you can learn more about the book or where you can go to learn more about the community. Uh, just a quick word about each. You can purchase the book on Amazon. Um, and if you're not an Amazon fan, you can purchase it directly from me on my site. You get the same exact, um, edition either way. The, uh, Legacy Circle is being built in the Creative on Purpose community on Success Finder. Not only will you get access to me and to, uh, the free content that I have curated there on the community calls that I'm going to be sharing there, but there is a powerful community of leaders who have additional free curated content. People like Nick Peterson, Dr. Jeff Spencer, Dan Nicholson, Jeff Moore, Laurel Portier. I encourage you to just, if you don't know those names, Google those names. And if you would like to get, learn more about them and get access to some of their wisdom, you can do that inside the Success Finder when you grab the free membership into the Creative on Purpose community, which you can just ask for again by leaving community in the comments. Um, just a couple quick— one more note. Even though, um, the launch did not go as I would have liked it had I planned better, um, there are some people that deserve mention. Jeff Moore was instrumental in reviewing the book and giving me a lot of great insights into putting together the best edition I could. Laura Portier did the same. Uh, my friends, uh, Lorenzo and Hoda and Debbie and Andrew and Leah and Melissa and Chris, and let's see, and Brittany also gave— not only have provided some reflections and insight that made the book better, but have also been doing, been very generous in helping promote the book online. So want to give them a shout out. I'll tag you guys in this video so that you know that I said thank you, and I'm very, very grateful for you lending me a little bit of your time and attention and putting the effort in to support and encourage this, uh, this process. So that is day 1, How to Not Launch a Book, all about The Art of Encore Living: A Guide to Find Fulfillment, Forge Meaning, and Make a Difference in the Second Half of Life. I hope that this will be instructive to those of you that are building and launching things online or, or in real life. Um, and, uh, I, I'm hope— Hope it will also be, be fun in addition to being instructive. And I hope it encourages you to not wait until you have things perfect before you go ahead and put your work out in the world, before you stand up to be seen, speak up to be heard, and start making the difference only you can make. If you'd like some help with that, I think the book would be really helpful. And I'd love to see you inside the community on those free calls. And until day 2, I will, I wish you the very, very best. Be well, be good, be well, take care, and I'll see you on the next call.
