Scott Perry argues social media is a neutral tool, like a hammer, that either builds or destroys based on your intent. He draws on Seth Godin's marketing seminars to show how you choose whether social media uses you or you use it, and urges small, meaningful connections over chasing influencer outcomes.

Some people have a love-hate relationship with social media. Mine was more of a hate-hate relationship. That began to change when I was a student and later a 4-time coach in Seth Godin's marketing seminar. What I learned there is that social media is merely a tool. It's like a hammer. A hammer can be used to build a house or smash someone's skull in. How you use any available tool is up to you. You can use social media or it can use you, but that's on you. In the next few minutes, I'll share how social media is not the enemy and help you use it with greater integrity and intention. And if you watch to the end, I'll tell you how to grab a free copy of the Art of Encore Living Quick Start Guide. Hey, I'm Scott Perry, Encore Life Coach and host of The Art of Encore Living. A show dedicated to delivering insight and inspiration to help you find fulfillment, forge meaning, and make a difference in your life's third act. Don't just leave a legacy, live it. I'm still learning to use social media as a tool to make change that's worth it happen. Change for the better, made with and for people I care about. And that change is happening like any worthwhile change. Slowly, connection by connection and conversation by conversation. Transformation feels like it happens in an instant, but it's really the result of many small transitions, most of which go unnoticed. Making a difference doesn't look and feel as sexy as what you see in the feeds of the pay-to-play influencers and experts that clog up your social media feed. But it does look and feel fulfilling and meaningful. As a non-core life coach, I help people leverage the wisdom and experience that they've earned to make the difference only they can make in their lives' third act. Don't die with the difference only you can make still inside. Live your legacy. Does this resonate with you? If so, sure, follow along on social media. But if you're ready to take a bolder step into possibility and your potential, Let's go! If you're ready to master the art of encore living, drop "encore" in the comments, a direct message, or by email to scott@creativeonpurpose.com, and I'll send you a free copy of the Art of Encore Living Quick Start Guide. Until next time, be well, do good, and have fun.
