Brie's Story: From Marketing Overwhelm to Focused Success

In this case‑study interview, Scott Perry of Creative on Purpose sits down with his client Bree Willey, a therapist‑turned‑business coach who runs Attainable Vision LLC and the DBA Dr. Willey's Business for Nerds. Bree explains that before joining the Catalyst program she was spread thin across multiple Facebook groups and pages, juggling four separate blogs, and struggling to attract coaching clients while teaching herself marketing. She chose Scott because of his authenticity, free resources, and a recommendation from a mutual client, Elizabeth Walker, after attending the “Be a Blessing Marketing” workshop. Over a 30‑day sprint, Bree consolidated her Facebook groups, migrated all blog content to a Substack that now serves as her content hub, and saw her primary Facebook group double in size. These changes gave her clearer focus, reduced overwhelm, and restored hope for sustainable growth. The interview closes with Bree urging listeners to take a free 15‑minute Catalyst call and join the Creative on Purpose community, emphasizing the value of even brief guidance from Scott.

Welcome everyone. Scott Perry here from Creative on Purpose with one of my favorite coaching clients. Bree is here today to talk a little bit about her experience inside the Catalyst program. Bree, how are you doing today?
Doing well. How are you, Scott Perry?
Perfect in every way, but you knew that already. It's always a privilege to spend some time with you. And today we're going to talk a little bit about Bree's experience inside the Catalyst program. And before we jump into any of that, Bree, I'd love for you to just tell us a little bit about yourself, your business, and what it is that you do.
Sure. Um, so my name is Bree Willey, and I originally started a private practice, a therapy private practice in 2015, and I learned how to build a business through trial by fire. And I now want to share how I built that business with other therapists and, um, people who, who want to branch into coaching and that type of thing. So I started Attainable Vision LLC, And then my DBA, which is Dr. Willie's Business for Nerds. And so I'm helping business owners build businesses they love.
Yeah, you do great work. And we'll make sure that there's links so that folks that want to check out what Bria is up to can find her. Let's jump into the work that we've been doing together. Tell everyone what was the challenge that you were facing before we started before we connected and started working together?
Yeah, um, so I was spending a lot of my time doing all the things. I had too many Facebook groups, too many Facebook pages. I, you know, just was a little disorganized and was spinning my wheels with marketing and trying to teach myself how to be a marketer. I also was having trouble finding coaching clients. So I sought your help to help me with that.
Yeah, well, your situation is very common. And it was really a privilege to learn more about what you do and dive into that work. So I would love for folks to know, like, why did you decide to choose me over other options that I'm sure you were considering around getting some coaching and getting the help that you needed?
Yeah, I chose you because you are authentic and real and you provide so much free resources like your workshop. Well, Elizabeth first told me about you. You are her neighbor and I had already known Elizabeth and Elizabeth's wonderful, so I knew you would be wonderful. So there was that too. And then going to your free workshop, that really helped. And you provided all these free, free resources that I had never heard from anyone. And, you know, I could use those resources immediately. I love that. So it's like, here's the coach.
Well, just— I'm going to provide just a little bit of context because Bree is talking about Elizabeth Walker, one of my other clients who also is doing amazing work out in the world. And I'm sure we'll be talking to her on one of these case study calls soon. And the workshop that Bri attended that led her to hiring me as her coach was the Be a Blessing Marketing Workshop. And if you were just listening to Bri's, you know, context around what she was struggling with before we started working together, the premise of Be a Blessing Marketing is that you don't have to become a digital marketer in order to do the work that you actually want to do. Difference you want to make with and for people you serve, you could actually just do that work and turn it into your marketing. And that is freely available on the Creative On Purpose Substack for anyone that wants to explore that. And since, you know, we did a little sprint together for about 30 days, what was, if anything in particular, what was, you know, was there anything particularly effective or beneficial about the time that we spent together? And if so, why was it so effective?
Yeah, well, you helped me prioritize what I needed to be working on as opposed to spinning my wheels doing all the things. So I consolidated a couple Facebook groups. That was really great. And now I'm spending less time marketing to everybody. I started a Substack. You showed me Substack and that was amazing. And now it's the hub of all my blogs, which I had, I forgot to say I had like 4 blogs. Now they're all on Substack and now the plan is to write on there and then blast those on my social media sites instead of unique content on each site. Substack is now the focus, which was super helpful. And then also my Facebook group doubled with your help. So that was cool.
Really fantastic. Well, how, how have all those changes changed your life? How has that impacted— you shared a little bit about how it impacted your business. How has it changed the way that you just show up in the world and the way that you engage in your business now?
Yeah, I feel like I have a lot more focus on what I like doing, which is writing and talking to people and encouraging them. It's still, you know, I still have a lot of work to do, but I feel like I have a focus now. I know what to do next. So that has helped bring some relief that I know this will work. It's just going to take some time. And I like that you're real about that. It doesn't just take, you know, a couple of weeks to get your business going. It takes time. And I like that. That's real. Yeah.
Well, I appreciate that. I would say to anyone that's tuning in and considering reaching out to have a Catalyst call and just explore the possibility of working together, if you are looking for an instant fix, a magic pill, a secret formula, or a roadmap to guaranteed success, you're not going to find it working with me. But if you want to get real about making real progress doing work that you love with people you care about, we can figure out how to do that in a way that aligns with who you really are, what you're really good at, where you really belong. So where do you think you would be now if you had not trusted yourself enough to invest in working together to, to try to fix your biz?
Oh my goodness, I would be down. You know, I know we all have those stuck feelings, but those would have been much worse. I, you know, there were even thoughts about giving up. I might have considered that more, where now I have hope.
That's awesome. Well, just to wrap up, if anyone is watching this case study and is curious about whether or not, uh, working with me or joining the, the Substack community and checking out the resources would be beneficial to them, um, what would you say to someone that's considering going ahead and opting in for that free 15-minute Catalyst call?
That just time with Scott Perry is so helpful. Um, even just a couple minutes of his guidance will help you have some insight into how you're moving forward. Joining his community, oh my goodness, he offers so many resources. For such a low price. I mean, it, it just makes sense to sign up with him. And, you know, every call is amazing. Like I was just saying on Substack with about you and Seth's Substack workshop, how there were so many aha moments. And actually that was a free workshop, another, you know, so just, you know, check it out.
Yeah, well, I really appreciate that. I don't make any secret about it that all my coaching client work actually just funds the thing that I really love to do, which is spend time inside the Community helping as many people as possible because the bar of entry is so very low. So I appreciate, I appreciate that testimonial. Bree, it's a privilege to have worked with you over the past 30 days. I know we're going to continue to collide with each other inside the Community because you're so active and such a great participant and contributor to our conversations inside the community. And I just can't wait to bear witness to all the success, uh, that you're going to have and all the difference that you're going to make in the world, because your work is really important. It matters. And, uh, you're just a real blessing in the world that you serve. So thank you so much for spending some time talking about this.
No problem at all. And thank you for being a blessing to me.
