To reach new goals, you need different strategies than the ones that got you here. Embrace performing poorly at first, experiment playfully, and adopt a growth mindset to learn the skills that matter.

One of the things that I do in my work as an Encore Life Coach and the things that I write about and broadcast about at Creative On Purpose are mental models and principles and practices, many of them based in ancient philosophical and spiritual traditions that are time-tested and scientifically vetted, that help people become the kind of person that knows what they want and is able to get it. And around goal achievement, the concepts that I find I go to most often and that my clients and subscribers find most helpful is this understanding that what got you where you are won't get you where you want to be. If you're going to make a difference, you're going to have to see, be, and do things differently. And so you have to be able to adopt that growth mindset and that willingness to do things badly in your pursuit of being able to do things well and having this sense of playfulness and experimentation.
