Strip catastrophic thinking down to facts: what's actually happening right now, not the story you're telling about it. Then ask what concrete action comes next. A Stoic method that turns emotional spirals into solvable problems.

of all the adjectives and adverbs of all of the narrative fallacies. And let's just state what's actually happening instead of, oh no, my wife's going to leave me. My kids are going to hate me. I'm going to end up homeless and living under a bridge and die an alcoholic. What if we just say, I don't have enough gigs on my calendar to pay the bills this month? That's the problem. We just took something that is catastrophized narrative that we can't do anything with and turned it into a solvable problem. I don't have enough money coming in this month to take care of all of my financial obligations. And that all comes from just applying that first Stoic discipline and answering the question, what's now, in a way that is stripped of adverbs, adjectives, narrative fallacies, and only talks about what is empirically true. Then we can apply the discipline of action or answer the question, what's next? Of all the things that I could decide and do next, what is the thing that I should decide and do next? So what framing the situation as plainly as possible does is it allows us to open our minds up to all of the possibilities.
