Client Video 4 - Income Increase Suggestions

A financial advisor walks through concrete ways to earn more: asking for a raise, driving for Uber, selling stuff online, and freelancing on Airtasker or Fiverr. The focus is on boosting income rather than just cutting costs.
All too often we hear of clients trying to work out, what can I be doing differently? How can I enhance the current money coaching program they're on? How can I pay their debt down a little bit faster? So there are two ways to do that. One is to increase your income, the other is to reduce your expenses. Let's just focus on increasing income. I think it's something where not a lot of us put a lot of time or effort or thought into it. We're always looking at how can we reduce our expenses. So some of the key ways to get quick wins and increase your income would be, firstly, ask your current boss for a pay rise. It's as simple as that. Go in there, look at the value you bring to the company, ask them for a pay rise. Your worst case scenario, you're earning exactly what you're earning today. Nothing to lose, everything to gain. The second option there, you'd be looking at picking up some extra work. I've got a lot of clients now who are driving for Uber. It takes you around about three to four hours to set up. You're literally driving within five days. You're earning income within five days. You've got to have a car that's less than nine years old and has at least five seats there. But as long as you've got those, then you can turn your existing car into a tax deduction. All your petrol becomes tax deductible. Maintenance, tyres, very, very good for you financially there. So look at driving for Uber. Look at all your options around that. I think it's a great way. We've got many clients driving around about five hours per week. Just five hours per week. They're picking up an extra $150 per week in income. So investigate that, and if that feels. Then I think it's going to be a great option for you. Another idea on how to increase your income is simply sell your shit. You've got so much stuff around your house, sitting in the spare cupboard, the spare room, underneath the shed, the garage. You literally want to jump on your phone, take photos of all the stuff you haven't used over the last 12 months, take a photo of all that, put it up onto ebay, put it up onto Gumtree and let them bid. And I promise you, you're going to pull hundreds and hundreds of dollars out of that and, and declutter your house and get back to a minimalistic sort of way of living there. We have so much clutter, and clutter is not only costing you money, but it's one way where you can actually make some money out of that. The next idea on how to increase your income is to really look at how you can go about adding more value to other people and where they're at. So we've got some clients who actually start off doing some work as part time or casual freelancing. There's great websites such as Airtasker where people put up little tasks and you can do those for a set fee. And if you're more into the design, then there are things like Fiverr and other design implement websites which just allow you to earn some more money without actually having to leave your house there. So there's some quick wins, earn some more income, ask for a pay rise, jump onto Uber, sell some shit, ebay, Gumtree, all these options are there for you and I really feel by just increasing your income you you're going to increase your savings and actually put yourself into a better position.
