This is a YouTube video titled "Client Video 7 - Goals : Targets" created on July 5, 2017. The content features a single speaker discussing the importance of setting clear financial and personal goals, such as weight loss or paying off a mortgage, emphasizing measurable targets and consistent progress to achieve success.
Whenever you're setting out to achieve anything in life, whether it's a weight loss goal or a financial goal, you're so much better off when you set a target or a goal to aim for. If we don't have anything to aim for, we find we just drift and we never really get to that end destination, let alone quickly. So pretend you're trying to lose $5,000. But five kilos, if we want to lose five kilos from a gym, we'd weigh ourselves in. That's the very first thing we do. And we say, okay, we're now at 78 kilos. We want to get down to 73 kilos. And we track and we measure that weight loss over the weeks. Your financial goals are no different. You should really be setting a financial goal. For example, how much do I want to pay off my house over the next 12 months? It could be 20,000. We've got clients paying over $80,000 off their home loan in just one year. So for every client, it's different. And that's going to depend on your income, obviously, and your debt amount. But if you can just set a goal or a target. So over the next 12 months, I want to pay $20,000 off my principal, I want to create 20 grand in savings, I want to create 20 grand in equity. That's going to be such a huge benefit for you because you know, every single month you need to be paying at least $1,800 off that mortgage month in, month out. So if you only paid 1,000 off your mortgage in December because it was Christmas, and we all know the expenses are pretty heavy there, then the following month you've got to pay 2,600 off the mortgage to catch that back up. So set little bite size goals or chunks or targets, and as a result, you can just use those as checkpoints along the journey to becoming debt free as quickly as possible.
