Google Analytics shifted to behavior metrics like DAU and retention. Merged Analytics identifies website visitors for outreach without sign-up, while Mixpanel tracks product behavior at lower cost than Heap or Amplitude. Different tools never match exactly, so focus on trends.

Hello, let's talk about analytics really quickly. So analytics, obviously the thing that you need in order to understand whether you're driving metrics for growth or otherwise or not. So what are the best systems out there? Google Analytics, the old classic. Over the last 15 years or so, they've moved from sort of page-based to behavior-based. Monthly, daily active users, user flows, retention cohorts, things like that. And, um, but one of the ones that I really like— there's 2 actually. One's called Merged Analytics. Reach out to me, I can get you set up with one of the founders there. They basically can identify who hits your website, um, without them signing up, which is pretty cool. You can see who's checking you out and, uh, chat with them. The other one is Mixpanel. I've used that for product behavior analytics for a long time over a number of different startups. There's a little bit of a learning curve to get it set up because you have to custom define events and their associated properties, but they work really well. It's achievable, like a very cheap price point. They don't get really expensive like places like Heap and Amplitude. So yeah, I think analytics are very important and otherwise you don't know whether you're moving the metrics or not. And then of course, depending on what media, if you're doing media, A lot of the places will have their own in-house analytics. So the other thing you should know is that no 2 analytics systems will ever match. I've been there, I've done that, I've tried. They all use different systems to calculate and sort of copy data between data stores, and there'll always be differences. But as long as you're seeing directionally the same movement, that's how you know it's it's pretty accurate. So yeah, reach out if you need help with analytics. I've built a few in my day. All right, that's it. Have a great one.
