How do you keep employees happy as an effective leader? Well, the first thing is for you to understand that happiness is not something that you or they can actually achieve on its own. Happiness is a byproduct of other thoughts and actions that we involve ourself in. And so if you are truly interested as an effective leader in helping keep your employees and your team members happy, the first thing is to understand that that byproduct that is the happiness you seek is a result of one of three things. Giving and gratefulness and growth. What can you help your people to give to others or inspire or give them opportunities to give to others so they feel that they are generous in becoming a contributor to something larger than themselves? What can you do to help them feel a sense of growth in their role, in their occupation, in their skill sets and their talents? How can you develop them beyond the role they're presently in to give them that sense of growth that they're going to enjoy? And then finally, how can you help them to think about what they're grateful for? Can you take time at your next team meeting to ask them what they appreciate and who and what they're thankful for in their role? If you do those things consistently, you're going to have a happy team. I'm Sean Glaze. That's what effective leaders do.
