HOW THE CYCLE OF CULTURE MAKES YOU MORE EFFECTIVE

So what is the cycle of culture? How can it help you be more effective in your role as a leader? Well, leaders understand that culture is nothing more than repeated behaviors that are allowed within an organization. What effective leaders understand is that those behaviors that you witness are always driven by internal beliefs by the people who you see demonstrating those behaviors. People actually do what they believe is the right thing based upon their understanding of the situation in that moment. But our beliefs are often based upon our awareness, and our awareness is very simply what we've noticed in the midst of our experiences. Here's where that becomes very valuable to you. Once you understand that the people in your organization have all come from very different backgrounds with very different experiences, You understand that they have a very different perspective when it comes to their awareness, and that informs their belief, and that obviously is what determines their behaviors. So if you want to change your culture, you can't just put a Band-Aid on it. Your job as a leader is to provide intentional experiences in meetings and conversations and off-sites, conferences, and in your trainings so those experiences shift the awareness and change the beliefs and improve the behaviors that you want to eventually become your culture. I'm Sean Glaze. That's what effective leaders do.
