So how can you be sure that your team building event isn't a waste of time? Well, if you're an effective leader, whether you're leading an in-person or remote team, you understand the importance of building connections and strengthening trust across your organization and within your departments. But when potential clients contact me inquiring about a team building event, It's because they know their team needs to do something better, but they don't know what it might be. And the problem is that many of those leaders will end up scheduling recreational team building instead of intentional team building. Recreational team building is stuff like bowling or laser tag or community service projects or a company picnic. And these can be valuable opportunities to spend time together, It may inspire a few conversations, but it seldom has lasting impact or changes behaviors. Changed behaviors is a result of changed awareness. If you want your people to interact more profitably and productively, or to overcome specific issues such as trust or poor collaboration, you need intentional team building. These are fun, engaging events that focus on outcomes instead of just recreational experiences. I'm Sean Glaze. That's what effective leaders do.
