¡Hola! I thought I was a good leader, but with a little bit of perspective and time, I look back on that guy and I understand I wasn't nearly as effective with my team as I could have been. That's why I've started doing what now I am unbelievably honored to do with you guys, because I want to hopefully help you guys keep away from stepping in some of the potholes that I did along the way. Now I want to make sure we accelerate your speed and shorten your path to building the culture that's going to help you and your team be that much more effective and that much more successful moving forward. With your partner there nearby, you're going to stare deeply into his or her eyes. Now say to partner B, You are awesome. The way that you're gonna make people continue to do great things is to recognize them when they do great things. Catch people being awesome, let them know that you value them.
We are here with Sean Glaze. We just finished an amazing team building exercise. Learned a lot of great things to implement as it relates to a team, building our culture, and we were just so excited to have him out with us today.
Got us all engaged with one another. Certainly you could take pieces home and work with your staff or your family ¡Gracias! See, you do need experience to grow. Believe me, if I could go back to that very first year as a head coach with 20 years of coaching experience, our kids would have had a very different type of season. They would have had a whole lot more success in terms of relationships and on the scoreboard. But while experience is important, Effective leadership is about more than just experience. It's what we take away from our experiences that becomes valuable to us and to our teams. It's about awareness. There's only two reasons that people share problems. There are only two reasons that people will take the initiative to share information and begin a collaborative conversation. Only two reasons. The first is something's on fire. There is an urgency. Oh my goodness, things are going to explode, things are horrible, we got to deal with this right now. There's a really big squish moment happening. The other reason that people share is because they feel safe. And if you want your people to come to you and share problems and share ideas and collaborate more, one of the most powerful things you can do to encourage feedback is to make sure people know that you are greedy and grateful for it. Connection and collaboration are not based on geography. Culture is nothing more than behaviors that are repeated and allowed in an organization. Winning teammates are coachable. That's real simple. Being coachable just means that you want to get better, and that you're willing to change.
If you're considering having an event to honor your team, to make your team better, I think Sean Glaze is your man. Really did a wonderful job for us, and I'd highly recommend him.
So, thank you, Sean.
