Hi, these are the 6 reasons your team is underachieving. I'm Sean Glaze with Great Results Team Building, and it isn't just your team that can do better. There are 6 reasons that every team underachieves, and by addressing these 6 issues, your team can enjoy not just a great deal better cohesive culture, but a great deal more teamwork and success. The first issue to address: oftentimes teams that underperform have not committed to a clear or unifying goal. Without a destination or a date to reach it, your people don't know what direction to row in or how hard they need to work to get there. The second issue that you may need to address: teams underperform because they've not built strong enough relationships. This is the most overlooked part of any team's development. People always work harder with and better for those that they care about. The third issue: oftentimes teams underachieve because they've not been encouraged to fill the right role. It's frustrating to watch a toddler try and force a round peg into a square hole, but oftentimes leaders do the same. The fourth reason: sometimes your team underachieves because you've not held them, or they've not held themselves or each other, accountable. When committed to a clear goal, you will publish what's important and provide consequences for meeting those expectations. The fifth issue to be aware of: sometimes teams underperform because they've not been rewarded for what you want repeated. One of the most powerful energizers you can provide your people is a AA battery. Share with them what you admire and what you appreciate. 6. Some teams underachieve because they need a great deal more listening and leadership skills. When you have the right people in the right spots with a clear goal, ability to communicate and share ideas, leading and listening in any situation demands a great deal more attention.
