So what are the most damaging phrases that you can share as a winning teammate or as an effective leader? Well, I share in my What Winning Teammates Do Differently keynote that the 5 most dangerous words a teammate can share: "That's just how I am," because that sabotages any chance of them moving forward and choosing to be different for their team or for better results. But as an effective leader, there is a phrase that is 4 words long that you need to be careful never to say: "I'll do it myself." Because when you choose to do something yourself instead of giving others the opportunity to develop using delegation as a tool, then you end up sacrificing their growth. And even though it might take a little bit of extra time on the front end, it will have tremendous benefits over time not just in development of your people, but in the improvement of your results and the ownership and commitment that your team shows because they've taken on more responsibility and they're proud of the skills and impact that they can have when they're given the opportunity. I'm Sean Glaze. That's what effective leaders do.
