Mike Melton records a short YouTube commentary documenting a customer’s damaged wheel after service at Discount Tire. He points out improper wheel mounting and balancing (excessive wheel-weights placement and damage to the wheel), criticizes technician training, notes the customer experienced vibration and photographed the damage, and says the customer has contacted the store manager.

If you choose to go to Discount Tire, just be careful. Let me show you. So this guy had Discount Tire mounted wheels up, and they took a big old chunk out of there. These are the tires they just put on there. Now let me show you the cluster of wheel weights. What? How these guys do it. All right. For one look at all the wheel weights, you should not come out this far. Once you come out this far, it makes an imbalance in that wheel. Not only that. Got it over here, too. What are y' all doing? Discount Tire. Y' all need to train your guys. So the first time he took it there, he had a vibration problem out of those tires. See where they left all the old sticky on there? This is where he put all those other weights. So for one, he never should have went with the cheaper tires. That's. That's on him, and that's on whoever sold them to him. But when you take it to a place, that right there should not happen at all. Let me give you a little bit closer. That right there should not happen at all. If that was my will, I'd be madder in hell, which he already is. He's took a picture. He's already talked to the manager of Discount Tire. I'm sure they're going to take care of it. But at the end of the day, stuff like that shouldn't happen.
