How To !

Mike Melton demonstrates the Hunter Road Force balancer, which applies up to 1,200 lb of simulated road force to reveal tire imbalance. The machine measures radial runout that causes vibration. Target is under 26 lb for LT tires to prevent customer complaints.

All right, let's go over the Hunter Road Force balancer. A lot of places either have the machine and don't know how to use it, or they either don't even have the machine at all. But this is the best balancer on the market because it's a Dyna-Sub balancer. It's not just a regular tire balancer. So for one, let's get started. Let's go ahead and take these damn stickers off here. Gotta take the damn stickers off. Those ate up like hell right there. Now before you balance everything, you wanna make sure all the old weights are off. And one thing about this roller right here, it puts 20 pounds 1,200 pounds of force on the tire, simulating it being driven on that truck to diagnose any kind of vibration problems you may have in the future. So we're gonna go around here, make sure all the weights are off. All right, so all the weights are off. We got everything set up, LT ready to go. All right, let's get her going. So right now it's gonna spin it, and here in a second that roller's gonna come down. Like I said, put 1,200 pounds of force on top of the tire, simulating it being driven on the vehicle. It's gonna detect any excessive radial runout in that tire that's gonna cause a vibration in this truck. That way we can actually fix the problem before it goes to the truck so the customer don't have to come back for vibration issues. All right, so right now, look at that. It's only got 12 pounds of force, 3 ounces of weight right there on the inside right there. So you want this all the way green. So sometimes you can be in the yellow, you won't have an issue, but if you're in the red, you definitely wanna be in the green. So you wanna be in under 26 on the— 26. On an LT tire. That's exactly how this works, but there's more to it than that. We'll go into it in another video.
